| #24 / Mon, 16 Jan 12 13:41 Ugh I don't know - maybe it's a nice mix, but I personally find it hard to justify listening to a podcast when I've heard all the tracks before. Especially when a lot of these tracks have been played to death by every other Techno DJ out there.
And I have to agree, I don't get why the RA podcasts often have so low bitrates. I'm pretty shure they get send WAVs, so why the low quality?

I can't believe quite how many mixes you see of this kind of techno which all have the same artists, labels, tracks over and over. There are other kinds of techno being made today, plus, you know, decades of techno and other types of music you could use in a mix rather than another Peter van Hoesen or Sandwell District track....

There are other kinds of techno being made today, plus, you know, decades of techno and other types of music you could use in a mix rather than another Peter van Hoesen or Sandwell District track.... maybe its me, but i think its a bit unfair to raise this argument in this case. fair play, i see your point and a lot of sets do seem to have pretty similar or comparable tracklists but the internets fuckin full of mixes, to the point that sometimes, yes, sounds get saturated, but this guy sounds like he barely plays outside of japan, so may not go to famous clubs or follow websites where the dj's rinse all the same songs on the regular or whatever. if this is what the guys feelin, then its what he's feelin and if its what he wants to play or what he wants to show people then fair play to him (no idea what literally any other mix or a regular set by him sounds like. maybe hes put this mix together with ra users in mind or maybe he hasnt... who knows). eitherway, dismissing a mix because youve heard the tracks before seems a bit ridiculous really. i mean a mix/transition of a tune can completely make or break a tune for me; two tracks in the right hands, at the right time can literally blow my mind, its like hearing them in a completely different way and it jus amazes me that ive never heard it in that way before. sometimes it takes hearing a track mixed in a certain way for me to realise its potential or realise its beauty or whatever. context completely changes the game for me. i dont really go to many big or famous clubs and some of my favourite dj's are just my mates and they literally amaze me sometimes.... the amount of parties ive gone to where a lesser known dj has completely smashed the headliner in my mind is ridiculous. so many. so maybe your point would be better placed towards some of the bigger names who dont bother to really put effort into making their mixes original, diggin through their crates or whatever... just use it as an opportunity for some promotion rather than an opportunity to create something truly different.... but fuck it, muh, who knows. either way, im jus happy these people make any kind of effort to give me these mixes for free. big up RA n big up all the contributors. much respect. apologies if that stream of consciousness was hard to follow. hope you get the gist. sometimes words just fail me and i cant argue my point very well. listening to the mix now, sounds good so far. cheers again

| #29 / Mon, 16 Jan 12 22:41 Agreed Struthius. Great comment. I'm loving this mix... its so dark and nefarious. Plus his Pigtails rock the shizz! All the more reason to head to Japan on the free flights this year!

No doubt, great for somebody new to get exposure in Japan aside from "the big three" but Ken Ishii & Takkyu are still amazing dj's in their own right even if the number of productions has slowed down from those guys.

| #31 / Tue, 17 Jan 12 02:41 great comment Struthius. can't agree more. you can never judge a dj mix by the tracklist. it's more about how the tracks are played in what order.
anybody with a good taste can make a good tracklist, but only a skilled dj can make a magical mix.

| #34 / Tue, 17 Jan 12 05:44 I don't know why people keep complaining about the bit rates of these podcasts. I am pretty sure RA has their reasons for using 160kbps encoding so as not to give away free music that people will disseminate or re-purpose for free. I imagine its analogous to radio djs talking at length over newly released tracks to prevent people from recording them.
I think people should just be thankful they even get podcasts.

| #36 / Tue, 17 Jan 12 11:07 ... well, this is a hard one... After a 3rd listen... On d first 15', the drone background make it boring, then, it seems Un Dimanche sans Fin (i:cube), but isn't... Nothing special, but i'll keep it untill have another Nobu's to compare... He could mix with Abdulla Rashim at SmokeMachine... i think that Nobu can do better...

| #49 / Tue, 17 Jan 12 18:25 I keep expecting to hear: "It is Monday! January sixteen two thousand 12. I am Chris Liebing and you are listening to the CLR podcast. We have a great show for you today, we have DJ Nobu in the mix. For those of you who don't know, Nobu is a really great DJ from Japan. I have played with him, and he mixes really proper techno, and he even played last year, I believe, at the Berghain. If you want more info about him you can check it out on his Facebook page. But enough of me talking, let's get on with the music with DJ Nobu in the mix. OK Enjoy." ... "Yes, you are still listening to the CLR podcast with DJ Nobu in the mix."
