| #60 / Fri, 06 Apr 12 20:39 How was 69?

| #61 / Sun, 08 Apr 12 16:55 (Edited: 8 Apr 12 23:48) Carl as 69 performed in three different masks. First up was something that looked a cross between the Scream ghost mask and a hockey mask, second was a Medico Della Peste mask, a Venetian mask that was most memorable as the long beak mask from Eyes Wide Shut. Last was the sad clown or Pierrot. And then at the end he lost the mask 'revealing his identity'.
Not really sure what that had to do with the music, it wasn't as if he played in 3 (or 4) parts.
Music was predominantly 69 with some sounds that sounded like a nod to Paperclip People.
I can remember he played: My Machines Rushed Sound On Sound Poi et Pas Ladies & Gentleman Desire (well a weird version that featured the beats reworked a little without the strings)
He made sure he squeezed in the 'I am 69 and I am here to fuck you' sample as well.
Not sure whether Carl likes to play longer when he plays live, but 1 hour felt short. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it was really a retrospective at the end of the day. Considering he's not released any new music as 69 for 18 odd years apart from some reworkings, I was a little perplexed as to why he was doing gigs as 69 today.
Also, interesting crowd. Was very young but I guess it's kinda cool to think that there were quite a few in the crowd enjoying sounds that were produced before they were born. They were into it though, the floor was full when he started and remained that way (and Geddes did a pretty fine job as warm up). Perhaps I was expecting something more akin to the Eastern Electrics punters.
Latest darling of the electronic set, Maya Jane Coles played after Carl, and whilst most people I spoke to said they were attending the gig for her, I thought she was boring, flat and didn't get out of 2nd gear. She has been so hit and miss with the sets of hers that I have heard IMHO. After an hour or so I left... which was a shame as Efdemin was playing, but not until 5.15 so I doubt I was going to stay that late anyway!

| #63 / Mon, 09 Apr 12 15:25 Geddes really is becoming a major draw - he's smashing it everytime I see him and plays a different set each time. Really enjoyed his set. I agree about MJC, couldn't really get into her - was ready for Efdemin when he came on and he didn't disappoint - really banging, just what I needed!

| #65 / Mon, 09 Apr 12 22:43 I must be missing out all the hype about MJC, this is the second time I saw her and still nothing. She didn't play anything unexpected. Really enjoyed Applebim in room 1.

| #68 / Tue, 10 Apr 12 15:27 Room 2 was a good vibe all night but could've been louder. All 3 acts killed it!
Carl Craig's set (from what I saw) was heaps better than his Field Day performance last year!
1st time catching MJC for me & I was feeling it, some seriously heavy drops on that system!
Efdemin ... Say no more. Bombs!!
