As he prepares to release his latest LP, Majenta, through Hotflush, Burlington Project pick the brains of the Berlin-based artist, touching on his childhood in Detroit, "extreme addictive behaviour" and his recent exploits in Russia.

Electro, pop, R&B and plenty of sleaze: it's all here in abundance on Majenta, the US artist's latest full-length.

Not really the music I usually listen but I like the electro sounds in it.

His persona is sorta annoying and his last one was kinda sh*t, wasn't it? Liked the debut a lot, will check this one out.

the female vocal in Sex Drive reminds me of Uffie.

pfft Jimmy's not a persona he's a real dude you can reach out and touch him if you can find him i swear to god it's not a schtick he smiles like mona lisa cuz he actually knows something we don't and you might figure out what it is if you listen to Majenta ur mad cuz ur not synesthetic

omg Let Yrslf Be is so beautiful it's profoundly altering my consciousness

Jimmy Edgar - Majenta cover
RA Review
Nomadic sex fiend Jimmy Edgar has found a new home at Hotflush, but not a whole lot has changed in his purple-hued world of robot decadence. Majenta is scantily clad in the same skeletal synth funk, though it was apparently conceived in a passionate flurry of creativity rather than the belaboured..

Overrated album. Some people take underproduction for rawness. I would rather listen to Prince than waste my time with this.

I don't think I'd ever accuse Jimmy Edgar of 'underproduction'.
That said, this is only just starting to grow on me.
He has a slight handicap on any new release given how much I love Color Strip!

Haha loved the review and its sexual inuendos, I'm kind of worried if this is one that is a grower as opposed to being outright addicting as that is never the case with unrestrained electronic funk as far I am concerned. Doubt he will ever best Color Strip.

Very funky, very 80's and he does not need to be Prince: there's a lot of 80s music that drank from the same influences that Prince had, and this is where Jimmy Edgar comes from.

This is both something that he loves and something that sells. You should hear his EP's, remixes, and especially some of the more experimental stuff he puts up on soundcloud; you may change your opinion of him. The guy IS quite brilliant.
