| #52 / Tue, 29 May 12 23:18 Rare Form = POOR FORM! Not being able to see any of the artists that I paid for is total BS! I didn't see 1 act that i wanted to!! Totally over sold and not being able to go up to the main floor where all the djs were at (that is if they even made it in) was BS. The bottom floor was an oven and had the same beat down bar staff that worked Shit Show directly before, so even trying to get a beverage became an ordeal. Total crap, I except more of a quality product from Andrew and crew!!

| #53 / Wed, 30 May 12 00:12 Absolute disgrace, is all I have to say about this party - I think that everybody who arrived far before 1:30 am and were not allowed entry should be compensated in some form. I will definitely keep an eye our for future events that they attempt to put on and ensure that this is not forgotten and future attendees are warned in advance. Many of the artists did now show, the wait to get in the club was too long, there was a second line to get to the rooftop, most people were not allowed access to the rooftop and the 1 bartender working at the ground floor bar was the SLOWEST I have ever seen - meaning that most people who were shafted on entering the main venue were not even able to have a drink without wasting 30 minutes + in line.

| #54 / Wed, 30 May 12 03:15 I'm pretty sure that this shit promoter from Chicago will gladly offer free admission to their next Detroit event knowing that everyone that got screwed over is not from Detroit and can't possibly cash in on it. Stay the fuck away from Detroit, react... Just like the real heads stay the fuck away from your events.

| #55 / Wed, 30 May 12 05:45 I got there earlyish and went upstairs no problem. The venue seemed awesome and all was well in the universe.
I went downstairs right around 1:30, wanted to see what was up before Thugfucker started playing. Looked around for 1-2 minutes. Went to go back upstairs told 'No way you're getting up there' Asked what about 3 times, the gent couldn't explain other then I wasn't getting up. Finally another guy led me to the lineup under the booth. I was already pissed but fine. After 30 minutes of no one being allowed up I left before I did something stupid.
I don't care about the money, but if I did a chargeback it wouldn't really hurt rare form would it? Only RA so guess their name is already trash now. Nuff damage done... maybe.
Atleast their bullshit lead to me getting an early start at Old Miami. A proper party.

| #56 / Wed, 30 May 12 07:32 (Edited: 30 May 12 07:49) hello..
Andrew from Liaison here. We couldn't be more disappointed with the outcome of the event on Sunday . We value our supporters and of course our Artists more than you could know. We spent countless hours to ensure you the quality event Liaison is known for and apologize for all the venue issues. We have been doing events for 10 years and never been treated like this by a venue or seen club staff like this. Those of you that know us know that we do very high quality events going to great lengths to provide the best experience possible. So very sorry that this was not the case this time.
We were told we had a capacity of 900 and we arrive day of show to have 500. The club staff and crew were the rudest I've ever seen. We would never hire people like that obviously and were shocked. They were holding Artists outside for 30 min or more delaying their sets and literally pushing people in line.
Really sorry many of you had a poor experience. I've PM'd everyone below and anyone else that wants to PM me I'm happy to speak with you.
best, andrew

| #57 / Wed, 30 May 12 15:27 Didn't you guys learn from your piss poor party in Miami too? I knew it was gonna be complete bullshit when I read that 'ticketholders aren't guaranteed entry after 1:30 am.' Just shows Liason and React are much more interested in how many people they can rip off and get away with than focusing more on the actual production of the party. Reputation ruined. Scam of the decade.

| #58 / Wed, 30 May 12 16:24 Oh. OK. Thanks for ducking the blame. Both promoters get a thumbs up now.

| #59 / Wed, 30 May 12 16:58 We spent $400 + service charges for this disaster. We got there early (before midnight) and made it to the staircase to the top level were we sat for another hour, never making it into the damn party $400 for 8 people, totally wasted.
I want my fucking money back.

| #60 / Wed, 30 May 12 17:12 Any business involves contractual obligations that must be enforced. With an entertainment venue, a key obligation is patron capacity, which a 10 year promotions veteran is familiar with I'm sure. So it is a surprise that an experienced promoter would be caught off guard by the capacity figure. Did they just take the venue's word for it?
At any rate, it doesn't matter, because I didn't pay the club, I paid the promoter. The responsibility for making the party work rests solely on their shoulders.
Andrewbluecollar, Rare Forms, Liason, et al should step up and do the right thing, which would be to issue full refunds to their guests instead of just paying lip service to their complaints.
Barring that, if we don't receive refunds, we should contact RA to ask for refunds, or our credit cards for chargebacks if necessary. This is important because it keeps people accountable for their actions. With no consequences, promoters will continue to throw bullshit events like this one.

| #61 / Wed, 30 May 12 18:06 Hey Guys, Mariesa from Liaison here. As Andrew stated we've been throwing parties for years in cities all over the US with very little problems . While Last Resort (Miami) was packed everyone got into the event except those showing up around 3:30 am when they made us shut down ( party was scheduled till 4am) In terms of Detroit we were sorely disappointed with the venue as was everyone. We are working feverishly to right the situation. We had folks on site in the city throughout the process assuring us these exact problems would not happen and sadly they did . We accept our role in this and are making every effort to contact people directly to work toward a resolution. Both Andrew and myself are in transit so please be patient and everyone will be contacted. We do these events to showcase our artists very rarely do we ever take home a profit from events that like this and its certainly not our intention overcharge people. We value our supporters and we will rectify this unfortunate situation as quickly as possible.

| #62 / Wed, 30 May 12 18:39 What can I say? In both cases... the venues just fucking sucked!
Greedy club owners/managers will tell you whatever you wanna hear.
Venues are the PROBLEM! Not the promoters, or artists.
We need to stick together guys. Not Us vs promoters...
Give them a chance to make it right. And ALWAYS be wary of club owners, they do not understand what we're about.

| #63 / Wed, 30 May 12 19:42 I am not surprised this party went like this. Anyone asking $50 for an afterparty in Detroit has no concept of what a real party is. Greedy greedy greedy. I hope people who were dumb enough to buy tickets to this get their money back. Keep this garbage in Miami where it belongs.
I went to Waterfalls for shit show and thought the venue was good. The door was well-managed and efficient.
|
| |
 |
| #64 / Wed, 30 May 12 19:47 I don't think these folks are greedy, I think these folks got in over their head. Lets give a chance to put their money where their mouths are and make it right.

 |
| #65 / Wed, 30 May 12 20:16 these guys booked EOTO for an afterparty in Detroit. their quality selection alone was questionable at best. i've seen these guys throw afterparties for jambands and seen the same thing happen before. just a bunch of knuckleheads who like to party.

Promptly deflecting all responsibility isn't the best way for that to start.

| #67 / Wed, 30 May 12 22:47 Seriously disappointed. This was the only after party I really looked forward to this year. $50 for limited access to the tiny 100 degree down stairs bar with sub par sound, poor service (same bar staff as Shit Show) getting stared down by angry bouncers around every corner (which ruined any possible vibe). At the Shit Show earlier, it was obvious that this venue would be way too small for a party of this caliber....and I'm just some dude, not a promoter with "ten years" of experience. Thanks for nothing.
|
| |
 |
| #68 / Wed, 30 May 12 22:47 react should stick to throwing overpriced jamband afterparties for face chewing bros who are too wasted/ignorant to complain about the quality of the events they pay to see. i'm glad i never even considered going to this party.
and fwiw, i spent 6 hours at waterfalls on sunday morning for shit show and had a great time. no problems at all with the venue or staff; everyone was friendly and respectful.
|
| |
 |
| #69 / Wed, 30 May 12 22:58 I showed up in line a little after 1:00 and ended up waiting in line for about 2 hours. After I finally got in I was then denied rooftop access and was yelled by the staff more than once. I decided to try and get a drink downstairs but after being in line for at least a half hour I gave up on even getting a drink at this place.
In all honesty this was the worst afterparty I've ever witnessed in my 9 years going to the festival. I understand that things go wrong but this was over the top.

| #70 / Wed, 30 May 12 23:15 This is the worst event I have EVER been too in my life. I'd rather sit through my own abortion than go through this experience again. Waited an hour in line outside to finally go in and meet my friend upstairs, only to have some butch bitch bouncer yell at me to "Make a Hole" for another hour in line while I tried to go up, which never happened. What a waste! You guys should refund all who bought tickets regardless of if they got upstairs or not. I had a friend up there waiting for me for 4 hours, then we left because I got tired of "Making a Hole" for your bouncers. Unreal.

I totally understand what you're saying, but I sent Andrew a PM and got an apology and the process started on a refund in no time flat. I got no excuses.
One thing we learned in Detroit this year, the after party scene is far from an exact science when compared to how well the festival itself is run. While our Sunday night was pretty f'n ruined, Old Miami made up for it that morning. If something sucks, there's probably something around the corner that doesn't.

 |
| #72 / Thu, 31 May 12 00:52 This was the worst thing ever. Thanks for nothing and ruining my Sunday night.
You guys should have stopped selling tickets WAY before you got to the $50 range. I will make sure to post on every event you guys promote that the customer will most likely get fucked.
Thanks for nothing.

| #73 / Thu, 31 May 12 02:09 This was the WORST experience I have ever had in Detroit. I support music, and the ONLY reason why I went to this even is because the lineup was so sick I couldnt resist. I wish I would have listened to all of the people that warned me about these shady assholes.
Listen, I am NOT paying $45 for nothing. I got stuck in a hot ass room with shitty music, and talked to like SHIT by staff. I couldnt go upstairs, they yelled when you went outside. I did not go see certain DJs at the festival because I THOUGHT I was going to see them at this party- and I didnt see shit. Except rude ass people.
You better believe I am posting on EVERY forum, on EVERY site. I want a FULL refund. If I do not hear from RA within the next few days, I am disputing the charges on my credit card via my bank. This party did not meet any of the promises or expectations... I encourage you all to do the same.

| #74 / Thu, 31 May 12 02:12 Blue Collar sucks to deal with from personal experience. React is infamous for their shitty parties. $50 for an afterparty in Detroit shoulda rang all your alarm bells, but if you're a Detroit noob, used to Miami, then its understandable. I've seen poorer, smaller promoters not from Detroit get screwed by cops and still dole out refunds (centre street social with PA's Humanaut crew comes to mind). Detroit parties require proper Detroit promoters to go off without a hitch. Carpetbaggers do not fare well. For the record, although shit show wasnt nearly as shitty as i hoped (tv bar last year was way better.) the venue was organized well and we had no issues. This 100% falls on Blue Collar, React, and Liason. Go to a real party next time folks.

| #78 / Thu, 31 May 12 19:11 Please keep me posted. Was really dissapointed with the outcome of this event. Pretty much the same story as the rest who were stuck downstairs and only got to see Public Lover. Gave up waiting in the pit line around 3am and had to bail due to the heat in the lower main room, which damn near caused a domestic dispute with my gf. Very sad considering that I was banking on this event to be the best one of the whole weekend. Still have some love for Liaison though as they are bringing in some serious talent to the states. Probably wont give React my money ever again.

| #84 / Thu, 31 May 12 23:28 We could not be more disappointed by what happened on Sunday at Waterfalls for what was supposed to be a special evening filled with great artists, music, friends, and family.
Please believe that we are highly empathetic, but to say we fully understand your frustration would be unfair especially since we know a lot of you planned part of your trip around this event.
It is not our intention to pass the blame but rather step up and accept responsibility and make things right .
React Presents and Liaison Artists would like to offer a variety of options in the hopes of attempting to rectify the situation. While we understand that this does not make up for the disappointment that some people inevitably feel, we hope that this is a step in the right direction.
To start, we'd like to offer ticket purchasers of Rare Form the option to receive a pair of tickets to Spring Awakening Music Festival, a $119.00 value. Spring Awakening Music Festival (www.springawakeningfestival.com) is at Soldier Field in Chicago, with stages inside and outside of the stadium and over 40 artists performing.
Second, React Presents and Liaison Artists produce many events in various cities around the country. If you're interested in going to a future event presented by React or featuring a Liaison artist, please let us know which event you would like to attend in which city, and we will do all we can to accommodate your request to get you and a friend on the guest list.
Third, over Labor Day Weekend in Chicago, React, in conjunction with other promoters in Chicago, host the North Coast Music Festival. On Sunday, an official North Coast Music Festival after party takes place with Maya Jane Coles and Claude VonStroke at Trancid. We can offer you tickets to this event.
And last, but not least, if you would like to be refunded for the event, contact your ticketing provider (either www.residentadvisor.com or www.clubtix.com), and we will work in conjunction with the ticketing provider to get your money back to you as soon as possible.
Whatever your desired option is, please email "rareformsolutions(at)gmail.com" with "RARE FORM" in the subject line, your desired make-up option, and any positive or negative feedback you can provide.
Thanks in advance for your patience on this matter and for your continued support. We look forward to providing you with the high quality entertainment in the future.

It's unfortunate that their isnt any record/proof of cash paying customers. My friend that came in with me got charged $80 at the door, this is price gouging at it's finest.

| #90 / Fri, 01 Jun 12 18:45 I also received a refund for this this morning. It doesn't fix the frustration that I had while I was there, but it does give me a renewed faith in the promoter. I'll likely try another of their events, though I'll be paying close attention next time for these flags.
Good luck to those who paid cash at the door.
