Just listened through. There are some really great soundscenes in this set, although I'm still wondering if the Madlib passage fits with the hugely cinematic opening. Still, really enjoyed this. I will test it out on a late night walk sometime soon, should be fun.

"I wanted this mix to stay on people's iPods for as long as possible and to linger in the mind."

That's a definite "yes". 45 minutes just flew by....

It's amazing to know how much was put together for a set that's less than 45 minutes. This is so great, even after having played it all day!

I'm not a great fan of the "soundtrack to an imaginary film" concept. I find that without any visuals to accompany them, soundtracks can often be meandering and a little dull. Having read the interview with this chap though, i'm really looking forward to listening to it and approach it with optimism!

this is wonderful.

its obvious he made a huge effort...

Haven't had a chance to listen yet but just wanted to thank RA for the quality of DJs and producers selected for these in 2012 so far. Seems like a definite step up in consistent quality, and well-balanced between established and up and coming artists who have something to say with their music.

Mountains was by far the best EP of 2011, I'm looking forward to hearing this.

wow this mix is excellent i love it.

Great podcast! Some really interesting sounds and samples- loved the Quasimoto selection too :D

Lots of respect for taking the creative approach vs. the strait up dance floor attack.

Great stuff! He was top at JB a while back and will return next month for 2 hours :-)

An interesting approach to a podcast which turned out to be a very good mix. A very nice selection of music.

Very nice atmosphere. I loved this one.

This was brilliant. I looked at the tracklist and thought it would be a mess, but it was a really coherent, spooky and emotional ride. Great job.

Thought I enjoyed this mix then listened again on a dark, wet, windy Tuesday morning and found I was taken to another level thanks DJRum and RA.

Very nice. It may be "a soundtrack to a movie that's not been made", but he sure used a lot of samples from the movie Jacob's Ladder, which is fine by me, maybe one of my Top 10 movies of all time.

Non Scholae Sed Vitae Discimus
Almost the same lush and dark atmosphere as Resident Advisor 262 by Sei A. If you liked this one check that one also!!!

That's right, the people don't come because you grandiose motherfuckers don't play shit that they like. If you played the shit that they like, then people would come, simple as that.

Bhognar, I totally agree mate. The first time I listened through this, I really appreciated the intricate amount of soundscape technologies, yet I did feel something was missing regarding a more cerebral cinematic feeling. Maybe it was just due to the weather outside when I was listening to this mix on the first round (granted I have listened to it now in different environments, such as on an airplane which was yet to take off from the runway, and twice on a horse drawn vehicle called a 'buggy' which to be honest was the least enlightening time of hearing this mix, mainly due the fact that this horse in particular had quite a bad case of horse-gas, but I digress)

Anyhow, I am glad to be able to find such sonically gifted kindred spirits on the forum, as often times I feel alone in this cold digital world of musical trivia. I suppose i'll try the walk and enjoy this music as well, or perhaps light some candles, drink a glass of Merlot, and analyze this in a much more introspective erm... perspective.

That was a proper journey.

Might be my favourite RA Mix of all time. Proper journey, what mixes should all be about for me.

I certainly haven´t heard all of them, more like 50%-60% of them, but I am inclined to agree this.

This made me dance, this gave me chills and goosebumps, this made me smile and sigh.

Aww yeah, this is fabulous. Reminds me a bit of the Kangding Ray mix on mnml ssgs, which is quite a compliment. Good luck sorting out your record collection.
