| #10 / Thu, 07 Jun 12 11:14 mraberry - judging by your messages both on here and facebook, you are clearly a promoter for the night. I'm looking forward to the night as I'm sure many others are, but you spamming the walls of the event is just annoying and unnecessary...

Whats rong with showing a little enthusiasm for a night out, too many people getting way too serious about themselves i fear, too cool to be cool eh mrimm123?

I found your comment informative and amusing... This event is sort of around the corner from me, wish I was going and had a cool gang to go with. (Drops head and pouts bottom lip expressing unhappiness).

| #24 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 09:41 Great Venue, Great Sound. Soul Clap however were fairly average. Playing a down-tempo tune, or rather 'ladies choice tune', at the top of every hour was really an ambitous task. They had to build it back up which required some big tune, 'set it off tunes', to regain the momentum. I felt they failed to do this. In their favour, playing the Cure was genius, but too little too late. Additionally, usually the crowd 'bay for blood' at the end, demanding a last tune; the response was lack-lustre. Could have been more to do with the crowd than the DJ's, or could be the crowd response to what was, in my opinion, a lazy set. 8 hours is a big ask for anyone and Soul Clap didn't sustain the pace that this length of time demanded. Also, saying 'the last dreamtime tune!' and pointing a light to the glitterball above their head was a tad pretentious. Will I see Soul Clap again. No.

| #25 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 10:00 I saw SC at the garden gestival last year. They were so self indulgent it was quite stratling. To see them both hi-fiving after every track change was quite "American£ i thought, but apart form the lucky paul track there wasnt much to be proud about. Maybe in the studio they have time to put a decent mix together but when it comes to being out on the decks, ive not heard much to praise them about. Iinterestingly i was at the Krankbrothers to see W+L who again were very weak and produced what can only be suggested as a pretty lazy effort, with only the Thriller track rousing the crowd. Anyway, its Lovebox and Bloc next, Business as usual!

| #26 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 10:24 The DJ Kicks mix with Wolf and Lamb is a timeless classic. Soul Clap's tempo and pacing was poor which was the key contributor to their lack of momentum. It is a massive task to build the pace after drawing it down at the top of every hour. It simply didn't work. @the elbow - I agree. They were very self-indulgent, which argueably is part of their party-piece and evidence that they come from an artistic family background. However, 'dreamtime' 'everyones freaky' vail will soon be lifted and the they will be forced to speak through their DJ sets.

| #27 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 15:48 I didn't think it was possible to get a more pretentious comments section going on than The Guardian but here we are!
Soul Clap were fucking fun on Saturday night, really saddening to see all these accusations of self indulgence. These are guys who clearly love what they do and have a wealth of underplayed music to draw from.
There were plenty of people geeking out over some impressive technical mixing and having a great time. And yes there may have been a couple of tunes pretty much just smashed in on the crossfader, and the slow jam was perhaps a bit of a confusing format for modern dancefloors accustomed to relentless mixing, but its different and it fits in with their musical ethos. And so does spinning a fucking disco ball and being ridiculous jokers.

| #28 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 16:25 @josetteherber - The mixing was uninspiring and generally paint by numbers. I am not talking about the mixing. I am talking about their decision to put a downtempo tune at the top of every hour, with the express intention of re-building the pace. This was an ambitous task and they failed. Their choice to do this messed with the momentum. The 'slow-jam' sound, interspliced with higher tempo tunes, cannot help but distort the momentum.

| #29 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 19:01 I was expecting quite a good night and had sold this to a few friends. After seeing previous youtube footage of Soul Clap Wolf & Lamb I expected great things from these guys. Just when you got into the music they would play some slow jam and I found the music didn't flow as well. We were a little disappointed. I agree with a few comments on here they were definitely playing for themselves and not the crowd. There was potential there but it just didn't happen for us. People watching was the best thing of the night.

| #30 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 19:08 @Soulfulgirl - I agree. I think they misjudged the tempo; thinking they can pick up the pace rapidly from the top of the hour, through to the top of the next hour. That is a very difficult job, especially through a full 8 hours. Plus, turning the bass right down and bringing back resulted in a very confusing session. They had moments of brilliance, but there was too much inconsistency for these flashes to be significant.

| #31 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 20:50 are some of you guys seriously having a go at djs that were "hi-fiving" when playing a track? perhaps they just love the music, realise they have one of the best jobs in the world and are having fun. how can you call that pretentious?! personally i would much rather see the djs fuck about with glitter balls ad have fun, than stare at a laptop and make zero eye contact with the people that pay their wages
as for the top of the hour "issue", they have said many times that they do this for the crowd, so they can go and get a drink and not feel like they are missing out.
i think some of you need to re-assess you reasons for going out.. Having fun? Or criticising.

| #32 / Mon, 11 Jun 12 22:26 I felt that they failed to sustain a consistency throughout the 8 hours. This was due to Soul Clap playing a totally incongruous tune at the top of each hour which lost the momentum. It was, therefore, their 'skill' to return the momentum by picking up the pace. I felt that they didn't have sufficient heavy hitters in their arsenal to pull this off effectively over the full 8 hours. They could have executed the 'down-tempo' tune at the top of each hour over a two hour period, but 8 hours is a biiiig mission. Epic fail.

| #33 / Tue, 12 Jun 12 08:20 Giannone - I dont want a break for a drink, i want to be 'avin it all night long - let me decide when i want a drink. If we all went for a drink when Soulclap decided, we'd miss the rest of the set for queing! some people are more intent on getting drinks and having a chat than getting down on the floor.
