| #3 / Fri, 20 Jul 12 06:42 Hey, I've just moved from Germany / Hamburg to Kelowna, BC. Can anybody tell me if this festival is like 80% dubstep, or will I get a good variety of different electronic music styles like: Techno, Tech-House, Nu Disco, Indie Electronic, Indie Dance, House?

| #4 / Sat, 21 Jul 12 05:01 Welcome to Canada, looks to be lots of up to date bass music audyones, do some research and you'l find that there's alot happening inbetween those genres you listed. Check out sepalcure, dbridge. Crazy these guys didn't get Bwana and Jacques on the lineup. Or many other quality UK acts.

| RA Review Arriving at Bass Coast when the sun was setting was almost frighteningly overwhelming; after being forced to fumble around in the dark to find the right campground, descending into festival proper was like entering a portal into some eerie forest saturnalia. As the music thrummed on past crowds of g..

| #5 / Wed, 08 Aug 12 00:39 decent review, but calling it "unbearably hot" during the daytime is absurd. This was the nicest weather of any festival I have ever been to, every single one in the states I have been to has been considerably hotter during the day. bringing as much booze in as we wanted was not a problem.
Machinedrum made this festival his bitch, by far the best set, with dBridge right behind. Max Ullis was really solid but not as good as others. The Librarian was the biggest surprise of the weekend for me, and her dropping George Fitzgerald "Heart's " was one of the highlights of my weekend. Scott W and Mitim brought the techno proper well past the sunrise on Saturday. Justin Martin's set was sloppy, as was he. "up next we have tiesto...", dude is good but an idiot on stage. Trap is clearly coming the new dubstep with loads of people dropping TNGHT and Lunice. Boddika and Joy Orbison tracks also all over the place. Braille played an amazing daytime set with hardly anyone in attendance. DJ Cure and Graintable played great bass sets at the slay bay. Sepalcure was great but clearly a bit mellow for a lot of people as the crowd thinned out as they went on. In short, lots of great forward thinking music to please both the bass heads and house/techno lovers, but also lots of super cheesy garbage (the dude noodling on his guitar over generic funk beats on the main stage... ugh). Organize the parking situation better and this festival will be hard to beat for one of its size. Also, the people trying to raffle off a fucking beat ass old ambulance on stage should be permanently banned from this festival.

| #6 / Wed, 08 Aug 12 01:03 i wasn't the only person who couldn't bear being out in the sun for longer than a few minutes before seeking shade. that being said, i'm kind of a pussy, so keep that in mind. it was HOT though, bearable to some or not.
the trap thing... yep.

| #7 / Wed, 08 Aug 12 01:55 Good festival, great food vendors, pretty BC river & Mountain landscape, awesome people and probably the best looking women I have ever seen at a festival to date... Yes even compared to Sonar in Barcelona, those hippie yoga chicks were stunning and cool.
Music was mediocre at best. If you like House and techno there were maybe 3-4 good acts. For $220 I would expect more.
Weather was the best. Not sure what that dood is saying... I had the best daytime fun in a long time

| #8 / Mon, 13 Aug 12 08:04 (Edited: 13 Aug 12 08:12) Thank you Fireman for the introduction. I finally went to Basscoast festival, and it was an inspiring and entertaining time there. The kind of people is the same kind of people I am used to from my subcultural festivals around Hamburg and Berlin, even though I am 8000 km away from "home". Great time there. The music was, as you said, Bass music in general. I don't want to sound cocky, but the Techno music there was hillarious. This is definetly a different kind of Techno - raw, very percussion focussed, less melody & heart in it, only robot like old-school in your face bum-bum-bum. BUT, that wasn't important, as the broken beats music was all around and fresh. As some people said before, there were some cheesy moments, but this is what always happens, and it didn't happy too often.
The crowd itself was free minded and hippie like, with burning man inspired folks, too. And yes, I've been to many festivals, but the women there were beautiful, and often naked ;-)

| #9 / Mon, 13 Aug 12 08:15 Is there any chance someone can get me the last set from the "The Bassment" stage, which was Adam Shaikh? I don't care in particular, but the second last song was incredible. Really need to find it anyhow.
