| #0 / Tue, 08 May 12 02:36 Hi, i need to buy turntables.
I know the technics 12XX are the best / industry standard but the prices of the used ones are really high right now, and since i am a noob i m afraid if i go decent priced used ones i m going to get screwed. And i cant afford the pricey ones.
Is there any cheaper alternative (under 300-400$), that s still good quality ?
i ve heard good things about the audiotechnica at lp 120 but i couldnt find a store in paris that has them in stock.
Thanks for your advice.

| #1 / Tue, 08 May 12 17:25 I have Vestax PDX-2000 mk 2 - they can be picked up cheaper than Technics and have better motors and a far greater pitch control range. They also have straight tone-arms which track better.
These were discussed on another thread recently and there are a few fans.

| #5 / Tue, 15 May 12 03:18 My introductory turntables were Numark TT500's, and I was pretty happy with them. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other high-end Numark tables, but has the same motor I believe. Then again this was 7 years ago so things might have changed.

| #7 / Fri, 25 May 12 17:08 I was djing with the Stanton STR8-150. I loved them, great quality, good tonearm (no skipping while scratching), strong engine. Really great turntable. If you need more infos click here. The TT cost about 499. Plus it coming with Key correction - I think its the only turntable which offers this.

| #9 / Wed, 13 Jun 12 14:10 I think the Vestax are a good alternative. Never seen the Audio Technica one, but generally like their other gear
