| The Feed Beatport are doing 50% off WAV and AIFF upgrades until the end of the month, and have asked Magda, Loco Dice and Andrew Weatherall to explain why they only use lossless files when DJing.

| #1 / Sat, 26 May 12 01:05 I would be more interested in hearing Beatport management explain why they continue to gouge their customers for lossless files in 2012. If fidelity is so important for "real" DJ's, why doesn't Beatport step up to the plate and offer lossless at parity with mp3?
Bandcamp can do this with no surcharge(in fact their terms are infinitely better than Beatport for artists, they only take 10%), why can't Beatport?

| I like 12" singles, tape recorders, and old drum machines. |

Because their business is based on ripping off bedroom DJs.

| #5 / Sat, 26 May 12 16:35 Max Graham said it best,
“With storage and download speed barely an issue these days, there’s absolutely no reason not to give your dancefloor the best possible sound with lossless audio,”
There really is no excuse anymore for BP to be taxing so much on WAVs

| #6 / Sat, 26 May 12 18:58 Agree, not like they are a paying a dime more for the wavs themselves (and please nobody start a dumb conversation about servers and electrical bills here) why should their customers? Of course alternatively checking out good old bandcamp for the direct to artist deal should always be your first point of call

| #9 / Sun, 27 May 12 04:55 Classic example ... I recently bought the 15 Years Of Drumcode. As wav's through Beatport it was US $38 ... No chance, Juno was US $20. Says it all really.

Pretty absurd that a bunch of files can cost double of what a CD costs.
