 | RA Review George Fitzgerald seems to have spent most of his career in the shadows of others: first Joy Orbison, after the two touched on the same blissed-out 2-step formula at roughly the same time; and latterly producers like Midland, whose hybrids of main room-friendly house and ample bassweight Fitzgerald..

| #7 / Mon, 18 Jun 12 22:04 this ep is (NOT AS horrible as i thought but) an enormous disappointment
child sounded so much better at higher bpm why would you release it so slow.. NOT TO MENTION this is a big example of something that should have just been released as a single. would have been perfect, other tracks arent even worth listening to

This is such a weak defense. The shittiest of shit music dropped at the right time makes people dance, so that really isn't saying much. Anyway, I've never been a fan of Fitzgerald. I find most of his music mediocre and sterile and this EP has done nothing to change that view. To me, the problem with his music is that it lacks any semblance of personality. It's possible to make music that isn't new in any way while still leaving your mark on it, and Fitzgerald completely fails in that regard for me. He just sounds like a slightly lesser version of a bunch of other producers (who aren't particularly innovative themselves) and so even his best work often ends up being underwhelming because it pales in comparison to the original. He's a technically solid producer, but that really doesn't account for much when you're making a copy of a copy of a copy.

| #18 / Tue, 19 Jun 12 17:43 I do like Fitzgerald, and it's unfair to call him mediocre after that masterpiece of never ending climax that was Shackled, very unique, unmistakeable George Fitzgerald. But these last tracks sound a bit more average. Maybe they will grow on me with time.
