| #19 / Mon, 06 Aug 12 17:18 To be honest I could make a list of tracks and producers through the night but as a start anything by Nuyorican Soul, Kenny Dope and Louie Vega were massive for me in the 90's, not so much now sadly (also check out their Kenlou releases...'Let's Groove' in particular). Kenny Dixon Jr. (later Moodymann) also came to prominence in the 90's with release after release that was a killer. Check out some of the crate digging posts on my blog ( gpdeephouse.wordpress.com/ ), lots of 90's deep house on there amongst some earlier stuff and later stuff. Proper house

Couldn't agree more, you could "blind buy" anything on Naked. On the album front, Depeche Mode - Violator.

| #42 / Sat, 01 Sep 12 20:34 (Edited: 1 Sep 12 20:43) This thread has thrown me right back, trying to remember a tonne of old stuff... Loads of brilliant Hip-hop and metal actually.
Your age probably has quite alot to do with how you approach this thread, you might have been too young to be properly into any music at the time but enjoyed the benefit of discovering everything good that came out in that decade after the fact. You might have just been old enough, but had terrible taste, or only just discovered one genre and obsessed over it, anyhow as fascinating as all of that is...
Electronic stuff I loved at the time: Portishead Prodigy Daft Punk The Chemical Brothers NiN Massive Attack Dj Shadow Leftfield Underworld Orbital
Many with exceptions.
Boring but honest.
I mainly loved metal then though.

Very true Emma, as i'm old(ish) its was the 80's for me that was the era of discovery and i found the 90's steered me down the metal route, i think mainly because of the grunge explosion. Guna start a "Music from the 80's..." one.

| #44 / Sun, 02 Sep 12 10:02 Underworld - Rez Nights were adjudged successful based on whether we heard it or not. Also, the jungle scene between 92 and 97, the singular sweet spot in my musical upbringing. Everything I could want from music is contained in that brief period. Non-dance? Sub-Pop. REM. The whole American college-rock thing. Oh, and Saturday Night by Whigfield.
