Last week, the Barcelona festival held its 19th edition. We interviewed some of the people that descended on the city to enjoy the sun, music and vibe to find out why they came.

The parties around the city are incredible!

For the parties Off Sonar can't be beat, but for the music, there were some real good stuff at the official festival. It's not Sonar's fault that people cleared out of the Hyperdub stage to go watch deadmaus.

Anyway, last weekend I met up with a good friend whom I haven't seen in ages, met some cool new friends from different countries, and had a great time in a beautiful city. Sounds like everyone else did too.

For me, most of the OFFsonar IS the comercial part of it. Tons of labels and artists on hype promoting themselves and their labels that will be forgotten or turn over to pure comercial electronic music next year. There are exceptions as W hotel, Innervisions, Moog and BeCool...but not many. Anything else it is what it is. Thought sonar official is becoming too comercial also with acts as Luciano, Deadmaus, and some others... I suppose they are tryng to fight somehow this off sonar madness, but I don't like it.

Thank god Sonar Day and some acts at night save it as Amon Tobin, Trevor Jackson or Blawan.

What was the deal with cops shutting down loads of parties is year? If off sonar was aiming to be "not so commercial", they certainly didnt succeed in that regard

"Michael. Germany" ran his own off Sonar party (Kompakt at Nitsa). Also fairly sure Eli from Soul Clap probably played elsewhere too.

The cops shut down some parties last year as well. I hear it's quite political because the govt. sponsors official Sonar and they poo-poo the Off events. It really sucks.

I wonder if they just spotted Eli walking around? Or if it was more planned?
