I should be getting this albums, "Sommer" in the mail any day now.
Hash Bar Loops was my favorite album last year along with Deadbeat's new one.
I Like Rod Modell Solo stuff. The intrusion cd "the seduction of silence" was supposely made under stephen hitchell but, it reminds me more of rod. idk, I think everyone on echospace is even Stephen or Rod. idk about brock va w/e his name is though.
Silent World was good but, I regonized alot of it. With this it seems to be all new material. Plus this release is under Soma which is a much bigger name so this album must be amazing for them not to release it under echospace.

Very different from your usual dubtechno synth-drenched productions, I really was entranced by its evocative might! For me, this album is more dreamlike than it features, air or water sounds and I don't really see the comparison with Lone's Galaxy Garden as it is way more abstract and symbolic than Lone's more figurative apporach. it certainly is a must-have!

| #35 / Fri, 04 Jan 13 05:13 (Edited: 4 Jan 13 05:20) Sommer is terribly underrated. Modell proves his mastery of sound synthesis here. The low quality sound at the outset of 'aquatic' is immaculately chosen. The eerie, distant, futuristic echoes in the latter half of 'aquatic' segue nicely into 'cruising' which proceeds to shove you unwittingly into a precocious, dark reality. 'Universe as a hologram' is a superb vignette. Quiet echoes of sensory information materialize out of white noise. Moments are drawn with such lucidity I'm convinced they're real memories. My only wish is for a few tracks to be more minimal and concise - layers in 'universe' and 'gliding' collude to damage some of the more delicate and quiet samples. Sommer veers close to genius - perhaps Modell should shed his dance roots and develop something purely introspective. >9/10 for me (comparatively the sound design in john talabot's ƒin is appalling bad)
