 | RA Review It's here! Mala has made a new record. The largest single statement of his career, in fact—a distant first ahead of 2010's six-track mini album Return II Space . It's no normal album, either—rather, a collaboration with a host of Cuban musicians which took place across two visits to Havana, orche..

Yo RedOne did you see Machinedrum recently at the engine room? It was a gritsy thing. That night was fun. He played alot of dubby sub-bass stuff. that's why Houstonians like though.

| #26 / Sun, 16 Sep 12 13:09 Don't think I've ever read this much criticism in a 4/5 review, but I'm more or less in agreement with both the review and the score. A couple of tracks don't really do much for me, but the good stuff is really, really good (Cuba Electronic, Changuito). Also, I like Como Como quite a bit. Reminds me of the vibe on LV's Routes.

| #33 / Tue, 09 Oct 12 12:24 (Edited: 9 Oct 12 12:37) Changuito (Jesus Christ, those war horns are something!), Change and Curfew really hit the spot for me together with a few other tracks which make this a pretty solid album. The ones that work best are those in which both sides of the albums influence have at least some credible contribution and not just post-production tweaks. Admittedly my favourites tend to lean slightly more toward Mala's dark roots. Opposite ends of the spectrum tracks just don't need to be there. For instance, The Tunnel with its rudimentary Bass line soon outstays its welcome and I am deterred by The Tourist as I can just imagine my Dad dancing to it at his Salsa club aha. Overall, i agree with the 4.
