So I just bought a third turntable after falling out of love with digital. I was so excited but have now found my Xone 42 only has two phon inputs, anyone know a way round this? Can you put a preamp before a mixer?
Yes, I have the solution that will light-up even further your creativity and senses!
Get a Vermona Action Filter. The new version just came out!!!
You enter your Technics in the device and then from the Action Filter to the Mixer you can go through a normal AUX line.
The problem is that when you will start mixing with two Vermona Filters (one per source) you will never touch again your EQ from the mixer... I said a problem? Well no...
That does look a pretty nice bit of kit. In the end went for the cheaper option and just got a pre-amp which has done the job beautifully. You can also get a dealer to replace one of the line channels with a phono channel ie 2 or 3 being changed for an original 1 0r 4 channel but its a bit more of an effort.
Just a bit of info for anyone in the same quandary: make sure the pre amp has a proper turntable input - not just the facility to connect phono cables - as only these will feature RIAA equalisation. If it doesn't, all your records will have no bass and lots of treble.
