interesting to see the start of such a major venture even with the potential revision of GEMA legislation. Hopefully a sign of positive things to come.

I think the opening of Chalet was already planned long before the change in GEMA legislation was announced.

Obviously. Lonely Planet has already written about it in their latest edition of their Berlin-guide.

When I go to parties, I always ask everyone if they're tourists or not. And if they are not, then I ask if they are TRUE Berliners or those annoying explants (they are just slighlty less terrible than tourists).

Your profile says you are from the Netherlands, does this make you a TRUE Berliner?

I went there Opening night. The experience in the line was horrific-no order at all, tons of pushing, claustrophobia, etc. This may have been because the club opened 3 hours past the scheduled time. Either way, my friends and I get in and are greeted by the very relaxed, aesthetically pleasing but also rather full garten. We get a drink, and attempt to find the garderobe, to no avail (if anyone knows whether this exists at Chalet or not and where, please let me know!). After hiding our jackets as best can, we decide to head inside, as there is nowhere to sit outside. The indoors is also aesthetically interesting and with such a building you'd think there'd be nooks and crannies, but we didn't find many. The music was pretty bland tech house, played a bit to softly on a good-not-great system. In fact, the dancefloor pretty much failed to make any impact on me or my friends-the music was functional, but lacked power, and musically failed to impress, which could have made up for the dearth of dancefloor oomph. We stuck around for 20 minutes and then went outside again, and left around 4:30.

Overall a pretty underwhelming experience. I did, however, only see one DJ and perhaps they pumped up the volume later-I'll give this one another try soon. But they better impress!

went for comme ci comme ca. good crowd/vibe and better than expected.
