This event was originally due to take place at Hackney Downs Studios and one of the (many) reasons we like that space so much is that it is possible to have two rooms of music which simply is not possible with the majority of spaces on the warehouse circuit. We've mentioned the complications in getting licenses at HDS because of the Olympics etc and once that became clear we had little time to source an alternative for this event - one that had two rooms and that was available at short notice.

We have a very strong relationship with the guys from HDS and they also run Netil House - they suggested we try Netil using one of the other studio rooms upstairs as our room two. It's never been done there before, but it was either that or cram all of those artists into one room.

Despite a lot of planning we still had to take a punt on using room 2 for the first time and in some ways it didn't quite come off. Despite lots of signage for Room 2 it still went over many people's heads and frankly the schlep up the stairs may have been a bit much for some. Mainly though, it was very hard work up there - there was no Air Con, because...

The Air Con failed us - as we said before, we hired in two Air Con units (one for upstairs and one to supplement Netil's recently upgraded extraction unit in the Main Room). Despite daytime tests running perfectly well, about an hour in to the night one of the units broke down and after several fuse changes (and much general frustration at the deja vu) we made the decision to use the one that was actually working in the main room for the greater good, as it were. Even then, whilst the main room was better than it normally is, the upgraded extraction in there didn't make as radical an improvement as we had hoped and despite security doing their best, people were monopolising the working unit (which could only be placed where it was because of a need for the ducting to expel the hot air out of the building and the machines weighing over 80 kilos each), which didn't help. But it was room 2 that suffered overall.

For those asking about Air Con, it is a hugely complicated and expensive problem. This is why TFL are yet to come up with a solution for the tube and many business face the same challenges. If we were running a nightclub then we’d have investment to spread over a prolonged period but its simply not possible to provide a complete air con solution for just one night. Fans also do not work, they simply distribute hot air around the room.

We do however do our best and when ever possible hire in fans with air con units, its an expensive task but we do try to put these things right.

Lastly we need to say thank you to Sound Services for providing an amazing sound system and also to Rebel Overlay for the visuals. We’re very excited to be moving to a new space for the next couple of Hydra parties. Full details on this coming soon.

They had 2 rooms open for Hydra/Deviation which was at iCan. Decent sized second room as well. Guess we will have to wait and see, looking forward to this all the same!

oh i've only been to iCan for the bleep party, didn't know there's a second room. Yeah regardless, this is a dream lineup

We are very excited to announce that the venue we will be using for this Saturday’s Nonplus x Workshop is ICan Studios in Hackney Wick.

It is a 5 minute walk from Hackney Wick station which is on the over ground line. The nearest bus stop is Wansbeck Road – Routes 276 (from Stoke Newtington) and 488 (From Clapton Pond).

There will be a cab service outside the venue at the end of the night. 

A few things to remember ahead of Saturday night: 

We will be using the new RA Bar Code tickets so you must bring a print out of your tickets. No print out, no entry.

The bar is CASH ONLY – there is cash back facility at the cloak room but we advise bring enough cash for the night.

There will be a plenty of tickets available on the door. Though we advise arriving early to beat the queues
