Ok, so I've been to 5 Hydra events.

Music wise and soundsystem wise they have all been pretty great. But consistently there are pretty annoying screw ups, and I'm not gonna bother mentioning them because I figured, ah well, who cares, the music is great.

But last night, another one of these screw-ups really got to me. I was wearing a hoodie and jacket so naturally at the cloakroom leave them inside each other to put on one hanger. The girl immediately separates them as asks for £4. When I ask why she separated them, I was told that putting two items on one hanger posed a "SECURITY RISK".

I've been to Ican Studios on two other occasions and I've been allowed to put two items on one hanger on both occasions, but they were having none of it. Every single venue I go out to in London lets me put two items on one hanger. I went to Fabric later that night and they didn't even bat an eyelid. But last night, I had to shell out £4 for the cloakroom, after paying a £2 transaction fee for cash back.

I know it seems petty to be complaining about this, but having spent a considerable amount of money on tickets for Hydra nights, I found it appalling that I was asked to spend that much to put my jacket in. And what on earth were they talking about - SECURITY RISK? Do you really hold your customers in such contempt that you'll look to unabashedly fleece us at every turn? How do you justify this?

Thanks to everyone that came down on Saturday, especially to Non Plus & Workshop Records. We hope that everyone enjoyed the party as much as we did.

Re the comments from Andyyyyy about the cloakroom; there were two large signs which clearly stated that the cloakroom charge was £2 - per item, which is standard practice in most clubs. We certainly do not fleece anyone that comes to our events, they cost a huge amount of money to stage and the revenue from the cloakroom helps to contribute to those costs.

Skudge were due to play at 2am but due to a small technical issue we had to move their set time to 3.30am (swapping start times with Boddika) and they played a full show at that point.

Shut up, it isn't. I mentioned before I went to Fabric that night and it wasn't "standard practice", and it wasn't "standard practice" the two previous times I went to I Can Studios. So please don't patronise me by brushing it aside as "standard practice". Just accept that you are firmly in the minority here, ripping the two items of clothing apart and charging double. And as the promoter surely you can explain what the "security risk" was?

Andyyy not going to get into this, it certainly is standard practice and it was this way for all of the events at I Can. There were two huge signs at the Cloakroom that clearly state that it was £2 per item, the same signs that have been displayed at all 5 of our events at I Can Studios.

I experienced the same issue in the cloakroom, but stuffed my hoody down the sleeve of my jacket and made it into 1 item - they were cool with it. I would agree that its fairly standard practice in London. If you rock the hoody / jacket combo, its always a risk andyyyyy - i'm surprised you haven't been stung before in London - its bit unfair to give the promoters a hard time about it.

I'm only annoyed at this because it has literally never been a problem for me. Not at I Can Studios with the two huge signs, or at Electric Minds BenUFO/Jackmaster Party, not at Fabric that same night.

So after spending £80 on Hydra tickets (where bigger mistakes happened), it just felt incredibly petty on a cold and very wet night.

Had a great night at this - first time at ican studios, probably up there as one of my favourite venues in london now - main room is incredible, great sound, great vibe on the balcony. Relaxed security throughout made the whole experience enjoyable - not too crowded for the most part like other hydra's i've been to - plenty of room in the smoking area. toilets outside meant never had to que once.
Seriously had a great night!

Joy O impressed as did Kassem who was on another level. Only real negative was the sound in room 2 was a bit poor, apart from when kassem was playing when things sounded crisp. Previously it was far too loud in there and many reflections. Room 1 on the other hand sounded very good at a nice comfortable level. so ideally would be nice to sort the acoustics in room 2.

From now though i'd love to see you guys keep using this place, surely it has loads of potential if you can keep the same relaxed vibe with security etc - why venue hop when you have ican? potentially a proper club on your hands there with an underground vibe - just what london needs!

:)
