what a terrible, under-inspired tracklist....

Meh, nothing new really. It's a solid mix, but I think most of the credit is coming from those who want to see another dubstep-related artist jump ship.

I've seen Sigha a few times and I've been really impressed with his DJing, he doesnt seem to do many podcasts and I think he's been caught betweem two ideas with this one.

Yeah, but I guess people see him as part of a larger paradigm atm. I mean no disrespect, as I'm a fan, I just wasn't all that impressed. Had someone who was seen as being firmly within the scene put out the same mix, I don't know that they would receive the same ups.

It's all good though.

Sigha lives in Berlin now and has been playing techno for years. How much more 'in the scene' can you get?

"Seen as."

I'm not questioning any of that- the same goes for Objekt, but most people would identify him as a dubstep producer through his label associations, for better or worse.

Anyways, I'm not trying to slag him off. I just didn't find it all that inspiring. I don't want to start a huge argument about it, I just thought it was pretty run-of-the mill.

It should be allways done like this cause it sounds great like techno allways should!

Just mugs with their naive, tunnel-visioned opinion chatting breeze as per usual... James is one of the scene's leading lights, I'm personally in awe of his talent, and I think Techno could do with a few more UK born and bred protagonists of this sort. Shame to hear such an average, un-substantial opinion...

totally agree, if I was running a techno night he would be one of the first djs I would book.

if you go beyond some of the simplistic labels attached to him, and even vaguely look at what he has been doing and playing, it should be very clear that he has been doing techno for quite some time. james is one of the most sincere, proper people i've met in techno. no bandwagon jumping going on here.

So what anyway? Shouldn't a dj be free to play whatever the piss stokes their fire? I am not sure Sigha's ever even allied himself so strongly to dubstep that fans should feel even an illegitimate urge to be aggrieved. When did this narrow-minded mentality seep into dance music? Does having a deep knowledge of a dj's musical history entitle any of us to decide their future? Bleedin' Nora! LOL

Plus, this is a fantastic mix, easily my favourite by Sigha. There have been some great, banging techno sets already this year - this, Black Dog's Purecast, Rrose and Developer's RA mixes...
