Am I the only one that loves Berghain 01? It was up there with the best of them. Not many people remember that one it's usually. Most people are all about Dettmans 02.

Ive been waiting to see the tracklisting for this. Looks good!

Is that Monty Luke remix actually out? The only thing google search yielded was a link to a hardwax page (where it was sold out).

yes. Yes. YES!

Berghain 01 is the best in the series probably. Most memorable, at least. Dettman's and Klock's are decent, Len Faki's tries to put too many hits on it, and Fengler's is all right but not good at anything in particular

You got it man! Well, Dettman's and Klock's in my opinion are more than decent. I happen to like Len Faki's mix a bit more than most people. Len Faki's mix starts off Banging! but, then it seems to go downhill into house territories which I thought were for Panorama bar. I just thought that Len kind of Started off with the definite "Berghain Style" but then he went off. It wasn't bad or anything in my opinion, just not the "Berghain sound" I was hoping towards in the end. Ben Klock's mix is just an all around good Techno mix in my opinion. Some of it's Banging. It's really good don't get me wrong. Fengler's Mix was good as well but, he tried to fuse Bass music, house, and techne. Which isn't what I would expect in a Berghian mix. Berghain 01 was really minimal but so good!

Sorry, Im ranting! So much to talk about in this series!

RE: Len Faki starting off heavy and getting housier.

If you listen to Berghain 01 to 05 continuously like in true Berghain marathon style, it all fits in well.

I know they are all individual album releases but this makes it a lot more enjoyable. :) Each Berghain release compliments each other.

Yeah, Ive done this a couple of times. I might actually do it a third time today since im off all day. I think a bit of Len Faki and Fengler had a real "London" feel to the mix in my opinion.

Berghain 01 was the only one where I could just sit there and listen and do nothing else. Every other mix in the series there were parts where I was just ZZZZzzzzzz....

Len Faki's doesn't have that problem but like you said it's just way too eclectic, too many styles on there and too many clashing sounds.

You can't go wrong with any of them of course

Yeah, the whole basement jaxx and burial remix of bloc party were just kind of out for a Berghain mix. It worked alright but there were too many clashing sounds.

Was it because Berghain 01 was really minimal? It seems like Minimal style of techno is fading away. I remember 05-07 or 08ish minimal was really big. Now it's all about Big room techno and ambient or Dub techno. Not a whole lot of Minimal coming out anymore.

Also I noticed Lens had alot of Sirens. Not sure if that was a good thing or bad thing.

I just finished listening to all 5 back to back. listened to 4 yesterday and Fenglers today.

Nodge is a top-notch choice for the sixth installment and the tracklist looks huge, this will be one heavily anticipated mix!

I would like to know if the first track he played last time in berghain is in this mix.
Does Anybody know if there is one track in this selection with a male vocal, sounding a bit like a mix of rebotini, depeche mode and the hacker (sorry for the description)?

I remember him playing also xosar some month ago in berghain again, one of the highlight in his mix.

One great record played is more valuable than one whole average set.............

I guess I am in the minority here, but I actually like Fengler's the most. Having just got back from Berlin (much spent in Berghain),05 reminds me the most of what it sounds like in the middle of the floor. Love them all, 02 especially, but 05 is my favorite. Maybe because I actually bought it two summers ago at the club????

RA Review
For a few moments early on in Berghain 06 , you wonder if this even a techno mix. 20 minutes later, you wonder if there's been a more techno mix CD released in the past few years. Norman Nodge, the Berghain resident behind 06 , usually plays either the warm-up or the closing set at the famed Ber..

IDK, I listened to the first 40 minutes of this mix and found them incredibly boring. Mixing was also below-par (not bad, just not perfect) which IMO is a no-no when it comes to commercially released mix CDs.

I really do think this is great. For me maybe the best Berghain mix

boring mix.
the tradition of r.a. reviewers to put 4 and 4,5 on berghain related releases never ends.

Fantastic mix. One of the best of the year, for me this has a slight edge on Klock's fabric mix.
