 | RA Review Adam X's industrial-tinged experimental project ADMX-71 sounds pretty much exactly like you'd expect. Foreboding, dark and hopeless. Every time you hear something like a piano reach out of the murk, it's quickly joined by something gnarled beyond recognition. Indeed, if you didn't know that X likes..

| #10 / Wed, 24 Oct 12 11:10 This is a classic. The composition and sound design is so flawless in places, its extraordinary. I'm surprised it didn't get a higher rating.

| #11 / Wed, 24 Oct 12 11:49 "The synth line on "Elevated Dreams" evokes the second word in its title instead of, say, nightmares. It's also one of the album's least successful songs, though it's unclear whether that's simply because X doesn't handle lightness well or because it sounds incredibly dated"
Couldn't disagree more strongly - Elevated Dreams is the stand out track of the album for me. It employs a retro production aesthetic, but that certainly doesn't make it sound incredibly dated (how many 115bpm electro/industrial techno hybrids have you heard before?). Also, those chords sound darkly euphoric to me, not light. Rant over.

| #14 / Thu, 25 Oct 12 09:57 I'm glad so many artists are returning to the Industrial pallette for inspiration, whether you interpret this as being dated or retrospective. The aesthetic is experiencing a welcome renaissance at the moment, with Rrose, Demdike and Vatican Shadow (among dozens more) twisting it into and smearing it onto various newer forms, be it two-step or 90s techno. This is just another testament to the style's as yet unplumbed richness.

| #17 / Thu, 25 Oct 12 20:08 The samples sound good to me. Not sure if I will buy yet. Does anyone notice that RA loves T Wormhole but always seems to shit on Adam X? What's up with that?

| #18 / Thu, 25 Oct 12 22:10 nice review, really cool album title. i'm excited to hear it on a big system.
ra shits on adam x? is that why they hosted a 2 hour ra exchange with him a year ago? don't be silly. adam x might have just been in a certain "old guard" status. like cristian vogel, he's totally proven that reputation to be false with his work over the past few years.
