Firmly ensconced in the heart of the Dirtybird family and with a release on Catz N Dog's increasingly essential Pets Recordings forthcoming, now's a good time to be A1 Bassline. Which probably explains why the Tighten Up co-founder has decided now is a good moment to launch a label of his own, Sourc..
Some of you guys go away from your standard 3.5's for the weirdest shit. Slur starts out cool, before ending up sounding like a weak, rhythmically stiff(er) Joy O/Boddika rip-off. Slingback is better overall and would probably sound great on a decent soundsystem, but it's not particularly interesting or memorable. Great production values aside, 'solid' is the best I can say for this release.
PS - I think both these tracks would work much better at a higher tempo.
Really into this, a1 production is always good and i think solid is a great way to describe this ep. I don't think it sounds like Joy/Boddika rip off, people who say that just sound like a lazy journalist.
I cant agree with David 909 enough, it seems that anyone who doesn't like A1 Bassline, seems to compare him to Joy Orbison in some way? What a very bad comparison, on this release particularly, why do some people try to make themselves sound clever, when obviously they have no idea whatsoever! A1 Bassline has progressed his sound over the years and has improved his production with every release, dont forget Joy Orbison was making Fidget 3 years ago (under the moniker "Louise's Lovers), still there's nothing wrong with progression.........
