I am looking forward to 1.8 update, off course I am not going to change my controller just because of a few lights and better screen.

But also people who diss Maschine are ridiculous.

Talking from a guy who owned 808, 909 and few other 'classic' maschines, this one has great samples and way more punch...I can't believe someone with knowledge of classic gear can diss this.

Fuckin fetishists and hypocrits.

There is absolutely no reason why version 1.8 software will not work with the old Maschine – this is NI we are talking about, not Apple (I hope) lol

Glad I got the old mk1 ... the mk2 looks like a 70s disco floor aka naff.

To me, this means that Maschine really can't be improved all that much.

Sure they could add a soundcard and flash memory but NI actually did a really great job in the beginning and this is just an update for those who want the latest version.

'boasts an array of both visual and technical upgrades which sees a new feature giving users full control over the time-stretching and pitch shifting of samples, an additional 47 click buttons and the ability to colour code each of the 16 touch pads'

Yeah well that price cut on the original makes a whole lot more sense now.

I don't understand the NI haters here...Native HAD to progress forward with their Maschine product after Akai brought the heat with their new MPC lineup. The most exciting thing here is how NI is migrating their other stellar products INTO Maschine. What most people missed is that MASSIVE is now included in the 1.8 update. As FutureMusic indicated in their writeup about Maschine 2 is that Maschine could become the center hub of ALL of NI's products...pretty exciting.

In addition, it's not just colored lights and a better screen, the interface of the Maschine 2 has been revamped with coded push buttons and a new master section.

I have to say I don't like the multiple colour pads. I'd much rather they put three or four colours per pad and you could assign them. Lots of cool faceplates, wood side panels and knob options on ebay now, but I really like the dark blue from NI.
