Insomnia Festival must have the highest latitude of any electronic music event in the world. It takes place about 500 klicks north of the Arctic Circle in Tromsø, a Norwegian city surrounded by fjords and a very arctic-looking mountain landscape. You definitely feel like you're at the end of the ear..

cute small festival in arctic area. Cool with 2 floors so you could choose which flavour you wanted. Emika did a nice perfomance, dont know why peeps called it goth pop(?). Portable was rocking!! Røyksopp was super fun! missed out on axel bowman tho:/

the crowd wasnt maybe the most educated in terms of electronic music but they had alotta fun.
nice treat for the locals and norwegians

Great article! I'm from Norway and I really have to agree with this statement:

'Everyone seemed to be there simply because it was what's going on this weekend, not because it was presenting cutting edge music.'

... As this isn't only an attitude reserved to this festival, but in general. I've been to numerous nights out in Oslo seeing alternative acts, and everyone I talk to are simply there to party and not to see who is actually playing, and have little or no clue as to what the lineup or who the artist is. And if these events are set in lesser known places / clubs / spots the crowd that goes there are very very few in numbers.
