I have a feeling you might be able to get a bunch of his tracks for a reasonable price soon...

Great night. Baby and Horror Inc were brilliant, and Zip was a whole other level; very classy stuff.

Words like special, magical, refreshing tend to be overused when describing djs, live sets, club nights.
Yesterday it was unquestionably one of those nights - that words cannot do justice, or maybe should be left at the hands of people possessing exceptional powers of expression - poets.
Unfortunately I'm not one, nevertheless, I'll try to do my best.

After my friends deserted me for the Warehouse Project in Manchester (which apparently was crowded and hot, but 'fun') I had no choice but go on my own.
It's the first time I've done that and I always hesitated in the past and ended up not going at all.

Arriving at 2.30 there was a group of 4 (!) waiting on the normal queue, about a dozen on the guest list queue and no one on the fabric first.
Swiftly to the bar for a glass of vodka and onto the dance floor.
Baby Ford was playing some trademark 'perlon house' records, one after the other. Then into more 'conventional house' territories and just as quickly into elegant techno. The flow was fine, the mixing was a bit rough and ready at times, but who cares. It was a bit too short though, to be honest. Just as I was getting in the mood he finished off with a classic house record (the name of which eludes me at the moment - I'm rubbish with names - I'll look into my records later, I'm sure it's somewhere in there)…

… Zip was on form. I am always amazed at his shockingly deep knowledge of electronic music. Whenever I see him, I always wonder 'where the fuck did he get that?!'. Needless to say I didn't know more of 90% of the records played (contrary to Baby Ford where I know/own 90% of the records he played).
Another thing that leaves me open-mouthed is his ability to effortlessly weave through genres as if it was a walk at the park. Not to mention how he seems to be stitching basslines together. Absolutely spot on mixing, as always.
Sublime house, exquisite techno, dashes of bass heavy music, all interwoven together taking the art of narrative into a whole new level.

The highlight of the night, though, was Mr. Marc Leclair, aka Akufen, aka Horror Inc.
This is where I really struggle with words. So here are some clichés: refreshing, unique, special, magical, a breath of fresh air on todays electronic music. It was quite literary the sexiest music I've ever heard - basslines seemed to caress you - music to make love to. Syncopated rhythms & weird time signatures, jazz drums, violins, trumpets and a grand piano appearing out of nowhere. I feel rejuvenated… Thank you Mr. Leclair

In case you needed proof that Perlon nights should happen more often at fabric.
By the way, I wasn't high on anything, just a couple glasses of vodka.

Goddamn, sounds like a great night, I am annoyed that I didn't brave it alone. Ah well, Fabric being fabric, I don't feel too guilty...

Yes, good evening indeed and a more mellow but no less energetic night dance wise. Horror Inc was really good, forward thinking melodic electronic dance music and good to see a legend like Baby Ford doing his thing..especially since the man's music made an impact on me all the way back in 1988..Zip was in the groove for sure, just one of the best. Never fails to deliver and played some great deep stuff that is rarely heard out these days..love the Fabric cd too..

Playing music...when it gets down to it, is like a painting, get those brush strokes just right...
Definitely one of the best nights in Fabric this year. Enjoyed from Burnski through Babyford, Horror Inc. to Zip's set. All good.

whatever...
Shake your bones to fabric 67: Zip..

Arriving late from Cocoon, I was welcomed with some of the most warm, elegant and just damn right beautiful music in existence. A far cry from the pretty relentless techno at Cocoon. Plenty of space to dance, Zip has the most incredible knowledge of music and his mixing is flawless. I was watching him use the rotary mixer for a bit. Genius. He's one of musics true legends. Thank you Zip.

ridiculous

care to elaborate on that, instead of negating my entire post with just a word

Ohne Musik wäre das Leben ein Irrtum.
sorry for the ambiguity, i wasn't commenting on your post (which i agree with - the zip and baby ford parts at least - thought horror inc suffered from the same problem as most live sets, a producer's material seems too samey when it's all you hear for an hour - some great individual tracks for sure).

i meant the night was ridiculous. as in unbelievable. zip's set was the best music i've heard in fabric for years, if not ever.

probably my favourite experience to date,All the main room sets were great its were i stayed from about midnight, never seen baby ford before but have been told to go see him by friends, like i heard his mixing wasnt the greatest but awesome tunes, had a chat with him too next to the fabric cd vending machine, was a really nice guy, legend! horror inc was awesome and glad i got to experience him live, and zip set was flawless loved the 3 perlon tunes at the beginning and the rest and the 9am finish a one to remember forever, still need to get the cd!

been playing the cd on repeat pretty much since i left fabric on sunday morning... might be the closest you'll get to saturday night's set for a while, cannot recommend it enough. too many good tunes to mention but soul capsule's 'seekers' into 'convergence' by dan curtin is quintessential zip!

he needs to come back more often. hint hint fabric people :)

No, not yet. Here's what the FF December newsletter says on the subject

here’s a little heads up that the general release date of Zip’s fabric mix is early due to December’s festivity and the postal constraints it brings. We’ll be getting you your copy as close to the 3rd as we can so please be patient. Whilst you wait, remember you can log into your online accounts and stream the mix from your dashboards from the 1st of the month

I'm streaming it right now. Excellent altogether.

Fantastic night, loved the pace of it all and good to be reminded how superb the sound system is at Fabric after a few poo venues this year.

Have to get to Berlin one year to get a bit more zip worship.

The CD is different class, I don't expected anything less from the master.

Had a look on this thread after being in the same boat - no CD yet.
Must be some problem with fabric getting them all sent out. Thought mine was just "lost" in the post. . .

It's because the December release has an earlier release date than other months (shops are only interested in the X-Factor and Now That's What I Call Xmas CDs any later in December) but the payment processing & delivery time all takes the same amount of time as usual. Always been thus, but now streaming added to make up for it.
