The CD was different class, I expect nothing less from the master.

Got mine today and i have to say the mix is superb ! it kicks off really well and the first 4-5 tracks are great, the Moodyfield mix of Statisfied is AMAZING! That soul capsule tune gets me paranoid but when convergence drops its all good again (sounds so good when slowed dow lol) Thank you fabric and mr franzmann!

I don't like it, save a couple of tracks. Its a bit nothingy, not enough oomph!

of course, anybody who expects to be hit over the head with some theatrically massive basslines or hooklines will be left massively stumped by this one. (any guy gerber addicts around?)

when you think this doesn't have anough oomph, then crank it up! (if this doesn't do it, then sorry but your hifi system obviously sucks.) the grooves alone are pretty much irresistible...

hand a brief debate over this one with a mate. He didn't think it was all that ("good background music"), I did... Outcome was inconclusive. Anyway, I'm older, which makes me right. That's what matters really.

Liked this mix a lot. First sequence is brilliant, with a bit of a lull in the middle. Definite respect for playing a different style than what's hip these days, even if it's not as eclectic as his "live" sets. Return of the Speaker People is just a deep and beautiful track, the highlight of the mix for me. 4/5.

narmst, reviewing and critiqueing is the age-old, fine-art of talking out of your ass. that said i love reading RA as it paints the ghostly image of a modern EDM/techno/electronic-whatever enthusiasts reality. unfortunately the reviewer has the daunting task of summarizing his opinion while also connecting it with the narcissistic and self-involved culture of electronic music. who could say anything about the music tastes of 18-25 yr olds that wouldn't sound like complete BS?

Strange because on first listen I thought this was an exceptional mix, but at the same time it does lack that Zip magic we hear in his sets... But it's possibly because I didn't really believe we would ever hear that on a commercial mix that I was so impressed by this.

I found it dull. But I will give it a second chance, sometimes I need to listen more than once to fully appreciate it.

the nail album isn't actually being reissued, three of the tracks are coming out on a compilation 12" (including the one here).

yep, I think it'll be a new aspect release. I think the CD is great, not a classic but still very enjoyable. His set at fabric was another level though.

I re-upped my fabric cd subscription for this but after giving it a few listens, felt ultimately disappointed.

The first 4 tracks made me think it would be a really special mix, but mid-way through it's just bogs down into really standard, boring tech house, and then the ending is just 'classic' sounding Detroit deep techno. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing very innovative or interesting either. I thought that Kenny Larkin track was particularly boring.

I know Zip is an amazing live DJ and like so many others, it just seems difficult to truly capture what these DJs do on a 70 minute commercial mix. Oh well...

This one is a grower. I listened to it a few times when it first came in the mail and it never really clicked so it sat on the shelf for a while. Put it back on a week or so ago and I'm really digging it now.
