 | RA Review After appearing on nearly a dozen different labels since his first record in 2005, Berlin-via-Detroit artist Kris Wadsworth lands on Beriln's Get Physical for his debut album, Life and Death . He first worked with M.A.N.D.Y.'s imprint in 2011 with the adventurous and old school-flavored It's Time..

Rating is too harsh

| #17 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 17:50 This album is proper tasty, maybe the reviewer needs to give it another listen, or listen to it properly Looking forward to the album for Hypercolour

| #18 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 18:10 lol I can't wait for Wadsworth to read this and have a public meltdown again.

 |
| #19 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 18:18 love & support KW, but this album was a bit of a let down.
just as it dropped, I remember reading him saying something along the lines of how he could have made a better effort or he has way more to offer, etc. this alone indicated maybe he just slapped some of this together. who knows, maybe not. there are some interesting tracks on here, but overall was expecting a bit more.

| #20 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 18:22 Careful or Kris might respond with something like this gem ...
'crappy sound? man...i guess so. coming from a no-production-credit-havin-ass mother ****** on tranceaddict.com. how fucking GAY! God damn! dude, seriously, send me your tracks. i want to hear them. i want you to get a fucking record out and let me review it. a pro. veteran of over a decade. let me take your pathetic little shit sucker track and chew it the fuck up and see how you like it? maybe dump a fat fucking hot shit curl on your wimpy little jams? sound cool? sound like a 'hit' to you?'

| #21 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 18:24 Remember RA, it's like Kris Wadsworth always says:
"fucking dorky ass shit, man. lol!
DONT LISTEN TO ANYTHING I DO. I WOULD RATHER STARVE THEN HAVE SOME FUCKING BITCH-MADE PUNKS START TRIPPIN AND THINK THEY ARE SHOT CALLERS AND CRITICS! I PAYED MY DUES! PAY YOURS YOU CHUMPS! THEN START SCREAMIN THAT STUPID ASS SHIT ONCE YOU FILL OUT THOSE LEVIS YOUR MOMS BOUGHT YA! YA FUCKS!"

| #22 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 18:25 Or like the time he said he wasn't arrogant, then made arrogant comments...
"his is why i abhor these dumb sites. then you have all these people chiming in and not understanding a thing you say. im not arrogant at ALL, thank you. im a very nice dude, unless you piss me off. most people are the same way. i feel artists and people in GENERAL need to stand up for themselves. esepcially artists, as we are the ones always under all this stupid scrutiny by people who dont know shit. just as you people decide to stand up for...forums or whatever, i choose to stand up for my work. "

| #23 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 18:27 criticism is just silly anyways, as Kris tells us:
"furthermore, its not about arrogance, or pomp, or pride even...its something called logic. you cannot talk shit if you dont do shit. period. everyone is a fucking critic and i see NO reason why. every record sucked this year? THINK ABOUT THAT. you obviously need to jump up in the fucking game and teach everyone how its done. yeah? evidently all these big shit-grin ******s with lots of clever little comments think they are just..."it." not me. i was polite. i was kidding around at first. with a smile on my face. then these tools from under some rock somewhere start it up...talkin dat shit and taking everything WAY out there. so, how you think im going to respond? dont step up and think people just back down. a taste of you own medicine from some wise-ass in Detroit? sorry. that show it goes."

| #24 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 18:52 He's right. RA probably just 2.5ed him to stir shit and generate a reaction. You've got a lot of wanker reviewers on here, just spewing shit to spew shit and "get their foot in the door" so they can get in line and stroke some DJ aura. There's a couple respectable "journalists" in this scene, but most of these cats are a joke like Andy Ryce.

| #26 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 21:03 Wicked album absurd review.
There is plenty of terrible cooky cutter house & poor mans pop thats written by engineers not even by the artists on the cover that gets higher on here. This album sounds like Kris and nobody else. A 2.5 makes a joke of the whole marking system.

You realize the reviewer does not determine the rating on RA? Either way, just because a reviewer actually does his job and publishes his honest opinion while ignoring the hype does not mean he's trying to stir up shit on purpose.

| #30 / Wed, 06 Feb 13 01:45 we heard from a very reliable source that KW has his studio engineer make his tracks while he keeps it real walking his chuahuahua on the streets of some white suburban neighbourhood 50 miles from Detroit. He did do the artwork himself tho, on Microsoft paint.

| #44 / Mon, 11 Feb 13 00:34 Kristopher Lee Wadsworth facebook: "Resident Advisor did this on purpose. How does EVERY OTHER magazine and journalistic entity practically across the board, give me respect for this album? Yet somehow I'm deliberately hung out to dry here? Seems like a LOT of other sources thought the complete opposite. I wonder why RA didn't? Interesting...
I love the typical, anonymous forum site commentary too. Really a nice read. I stuck up for the first remix I ever did years ago on some ridiculous forum site...and these people...STILL...like six years later, are quoting my sticking up for myself and other artists. I was like 22(?) years old and it still makes perfect sense. Thanks for reminding me of how lame forum sites were and are. Honestly made me laugh while getting over the flu here at home.
Thanks to some friends who know me in real life; Rick Bull, Chris Spero, Jamie Russell, Jam- The-Channel, and others who stepped up to internet bat for me. Also thanks to the real journalists who supported my first album; my peers, friends, and fans who sent me innumerable messages, SMS, phone calls, emails, asked for autographed copies, etc. That means the world to me and trumps any stupid little hater crap. However, if you feel the need, please show your support for this via RA too. I would appreciate that as would the people who helped me make this album."

| #45 / Mon, 11 Feb 13 01:43 'just trivial exercises in synthetic drones' -Laughably un-informed summary, which reveals way more about the musical vulgarity of the perpetrator of this utterly dross 'review' than it does the accomplishments of the artist.
This article is so squeamishly, patently loaded with personal bias its almost funny.
A shame that RA has allowed the publication of this unimaginative, unprofessional, and to be honest at times bitter and down right mean, opinion of one person to be published under the 'guise' of a critical review.
Shame on you.

| #46 / Mon, 11 Feb 13 09:05 What the reviewer has failed to grasp here is that Kris is a producer that attempts to push things forward - He has put together an album that is both engaging, interesting and doesn't pander to the beatport top 100 like the majority of producers out there. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on music but I think 2 and a half is an ignorant score.

 |
| #47 / Mon, 11 Feb 13 09:15 this review is bullshit. that is all.
|
| |
 |
| #48 / Mon, 11 Feb 13 21:40 i think it's a great album. it's a bit oddly placed on Physical but it's also the most interesting, daring and creative thing they've released in years. i hope they stick with material that is pushing the envelope like they did when they started, and supporting artists like Kris that have a clearly defined vision of their art. any movement away from the cookie cutter, trendy, glossy same-bassline, regurgitated, derivative nonsense is a good movement.
|
| |
 |
| #49 / Mon, 11 Feb 13 23:10 PS i'm not saying physical was releasing that kinda stuff. i'm saying everybody and their mom is.
|
| |
 |
| #50 / Mon, 11 Feb 13 23:59 yup, strongly agree with Alland here. Bold and timely move from Physical here....a step in a great direction. Refreshing to know it's possible...
