Seeing the themes I was wondering wether they would talk about FR. It's a tiny festival already on full capacity. What's the point talking about something where already a lot of people can't go? But maybe I'm not uptodate on the topic.
I totally agree with the guy speking about new york house. The actual knowledge is restricted. Here in berlin you can wait years before someone play a MAW with big vocal or a Jovonn. They all know kerry chandler, worse they all know the same tracks of kerry chandler ... and that's all about new york new jersey. well, it's subjective, my own knowledge is restricted of course and I'm only speaking about berlin but that's my impression after living years in this city. It is therefore always risky for a dj to play NY vocal house if it's not a well known hit.
Nevertheless I won't complain. since the house came back in berlin 3 or 4 years ago, I hear a lot more vocals than before.
And final point: Even if I don't like to hear always the same old hits, I don't like at all the concept of "Machine" ... but nobody cares, I know

I don't know how you can suprise people with 3 months old tracks, if these tracks are played by everybody., same with promo. A friend told me friday, the "afterparty" of ben sims was played so many times in the promo time, that when it came out, he couldn't buy the track anymore. You have tons of old records that are great and under the radar of everybody (when i say everybody, I mean it) If you want to play for music lovers, you play old and new records. that's the best concept.
And thanks for this RA exchange. these roundtables are always worth listening.
