| #1 / Fri, 23 Nov 12 16:36 (Edited: 23 Nov 12 16:43) there is nowhere in the world right now where people are actually being consumers. In Japan, you can still sell 10,000-15,000 records, be it vinyl, CD, whatever the format you can sell product.
That's curious, considering what I've heard of the Japanese market indicates the opposite, with music being incredibly expensive (like 60 bucks for a CD) and music sales at an all time low. It is the definitive Transmat. I do one every ten or 15 years. It sounds ridiculous but it's true. I will always do one every few years a definitive compilation of artists I believe are going to be next.
Where are these other Beyond the Dance compilations he speaks of? The only Transmat compilation with various artists I can find on Discogs is the Time : Space compilation. And the Relics compilation, if that counts.

CDs do not cost 60 dollars in japan that's crazy talk they have comparable prices to the rest of the world 1000 - 3000 yen. And they still have massive HMV & Tower Records stores are alive and well. The Japanese hi-fi market is huge given that they have so many electronics manufacturers & Sony helped the Red Book standard for cds. But at the same time you are right in a sense that the Japanese do not fuck around with their hi-fi setups. Where else on earth is there a department store that you can try out STAX electro-static headphone/amp setups that cost thousands of dollars? Without even having to ask an employee? If you left something like that out in the open at Walmart in the states somebody would try to jack that shit for sure.

They also leave their cars parked running with the keys in the ignition trusting that nobody will take it like this one: Winnie the Pooh Mobile

An American questioning the intelligence of a 16000 year old civilisation? Now that's funny.

This makes me sad. Posted by NavalverdePosted by Woony That's curious, considering what I've heard of the Japanese market indicates the opposite, with music being incredibly expensive (like 60 bucks for a CD) and music sales at an all time low.
