Digweed has been far more consistent with his opinions over the years.

| #108 / Wed, 28 Nov 12 16:44 @bassethound - have you read any of the documentation?? It's not about him losing his luggage. He didn't get on the connecting flight, he had an hour and 10 minutes too. There was no reason for him to miss the flight. His luggage went on the connecting flight. That's how it got lost. Seriously before you comment at least read the evidence that has been put up. Also yeah totally cool to steal $12k of someone for payment for shows you didn't perform.

this is a one sided story and i'm saying i want to see all the proof also the proof he claims to have... The money is of no interest to me( thats more for the players involved in all this) I don't take sides i only want the story from both ends....
did i say it is totally cool to keep the money i think not?

| #115 / Wed, 28 Nov 12 17:51 The bank statement is blanked out but the wire transfer has the account number with only the last two digits blanked out. It is very easy to find the account number considering when you see a US account statement, easy to find, the account is blocked out except for the last four digits. So take your page, break into his chase.com account based on the info from the wire and statement, and you can easily do a bill pay check to clear the account. Your tumblr is incredibly sophomoric and shows step by step how you failed to book an event. If you have an iota of intelligence, you would delete the tumblr before it is used against you in litigation

Everyone who is "not in total agreement" of civil theft may not be connected to Lil Louis... but you are still not correct and not cool what you're saying either, belittling the promoters. Everything they've done thus far is in accordance with the law and does not affect any litigation
EDIT.... I should be more considerate XD

| #118 / Wed, 28 Nov 12 19:06 The crazy thing is - everyone is on here arguing amongst themselves whilst a DJ who it seems, doesnt like to actually DJ much is probably laughing with no shame at the whole situation and is - as it stands, $12000 richer. It doesnt matter how unprofessional people may think the promoters have been - Lil Louis is a obviously a massive cunt - anyone who wants an indoor basketball court included on their rider is obviously living in a dream world. He' a bloke that takes one record and adjusts its speed to match another - he's hardly Jimi Hendrix is he. What a fool.

| #121 / Wed, 28 Nov 12 20:27 i do have to say the promoters were a bit naive and got a little too obsessed with this particular booking though. As someone who has thrown shows with higher caliber DJs than Louis, I woulda RAN THE FUCK OUT after those first few e-mail exchanges and the lack of prompt replies from the artist himself. It just read like TOO MUCH TROUBLE from the getgo...especially from a "legend" that is only running on past hype and glory. He's not a good DJ. I can say this from experience. And he's still rinsing the same tired anthems of yesteryear to boot. If anyone is bitter and got a chip on his shoulder it's fucking Lil' Louis and Co.
I'm tired of promoters being a bit too starstuck and overly concerned with big names like that. I guarantee that you could bring "smaller" players for a fraction of the price (no business class, simple hotel or sleep on your couch, and a reasonable fee of $500-1000 USD) and probably even MAKE money from your show, even in Australia. It's about the party you create, not the shiny name you bring!
Not all Americans are fucking divas like this...I've realized over the years it's mostly the old and busted cats that feel entitled to ridiculous shit, or the really new and young players in the more commercial scenes (dubstep, electro house, trap, whatever). The real underground here is pretty fucking humble, and more than anything, just wants to see the world, have some fun, share great tunes, and maybe come out of it all with enough money to pay the bills and maybe have a bit of a "bonus" left over at the end to buy a new synth or something.
I guarantee you coulda booked Jus Ed, DVS1, Levon Vincent, D'Marc Cantu, Kris Wadsworth, Raiz, Ryan Elliott, Mike Huckaby, Claude Young, or any of the other hundreds of more relevant, skilled, and humble house/techno US DJ/producers for less money, less headache, and a truly unforgettable experience.
So next time, I'd recommend the promoter hold your horses, mull it over, dig a little deeper, and bring the heat, rather than deal with this kind of diva shit.
Still, doesn't mean Louis is in the right for robbing these guys. Bad, bad, bad, bad form.

@abrandcalledu - Could you just ask Louis to get in touch with the promoters, and just basically offer to pay the money back, or come to some kind of arrangement.
I know for a fact they will be civil about it, at the end of the day, this is a complete mess of a situation, why not make it a happy ending and turn all this negativity into something positive.
It's never too late, and all this can be put behind everyone.

"Mate, you DO realise when you get connecting flights your bag gets autoforwarded on?"
Cue sheepish withdrawal and strops aplenty.

| #132 / Wed, 28 Nov 12 22:43 Sorry, has an agent I must say: do you think we all get together each year to talk about who to avoid and etc? I'm glad that, on situations like this, some people get fed up and speak the truth about someone. This was theft, and for some clubs losing that type of money would be a huge blow.

"credited as being the Founding Father of House Music."
"The acclaim from the crowd birthed the 12-year-old’s career as a DJ, and by many accounts, the birth of House music."
"was the first in Chicago to regularly play Disco"
"In 1977 he organized the world’s first “Rave.”
"Being the “lab rat” of the world’s first record pool, Louis is also credited for “breaking” more records than any other Chicago DJ."
"In the mid 70s, he took mixing another step, by pioneering “Edits” a tool that planted the seed of House Music."
There's some serious issues with the information presented in the linked biography. He sounds like a walking cokedream.

| #142 / Thu, 29 Nov 12 01:34 Amen to that Amir. As a man who's been around long enough (from the early 90s) to see hyper-inflated fees being paid to producers who are so-so DJs whilst really amazing talent, folks who make great music and who are great DJs as well find it hard to make a crust, I wholeheartedly agree with what you're saying. I've seen and heard what you do and I'm loving the music you make. You are a prime example of the sort of US DJ people should be booking right now.
People, the hype is very often wack. In my 17yrs in this game I've seen "pioneers" who mash almost every beatmatch, who play weak, lifeless sets with no soul or drive but who collect fees for one tour that equal a year or more's fees for far greater talent. By enabling this hype machine we are going nowhere as a scene, just back to the bad old days of the "super clubs", and that will mean the current vitality of house/techno music across the globe will suffer once again.

| #146 / Thu, 29 Nov 12 03:13 Posted by MrDBrown Ok. I'll clarify. I'm speaking more about the scenario than about any specific player in this tragedy. (Which is wack as fuck and has nuff hype dirt all over it). Now, before I continue let me state unequivocally that I respect Game as much as respect is due. The DJ who shall remain innocent until proven guilty is a living legend. Yes? That is not up for debate. No one can fuck with what he's done but diva is diva. Five stacks a show???? Fees like that cause the paper to become the focus instead of the music, but I digress....... One of the main problems as I see it is the horrific amounts of wasted money time energy and resources put into catering to sustaining and sometimes inducing a capitalist diva mindset into what should be a communal artistic gathering of like minded individuals. I can have the utmost respect for the artist in question and have distaste for the scenario at the same time with no contradictions what so ever. Cats are coasting on their "legacy" every day of the week. To deny this is denying fact. I'm just stating my opinion I guess (when it comes to new works that may or may not resonate with me). Perhaps that's how I should state it. If you're a DJ out there trying to push the cutting edge every night (instead of giving me something I've been hearing for the last 20 years) then you get mad props no matter what. Derrick May hasn't released new material in a minute, but no one can touch him. Some of these other DJ "Legends" can get touched by most of the DJ's I know. Pro or bedroom. All of which play vinyl exclusively (with the exception of the unreleased joint thrown in from time to time). More Art. Less Hype. Once again, I state "no disrespect intended toward any of the parties concerned, their friends, significant other's, fans, or their moms. I also reiterate that everyone is innocent until proven guilty". Peace!
You need to clarify really, in fairness you were rambling. Nope! It was spot on

| #148 / Thu, 29 Nov 12 04:37 This whole mess reminds of the Steve Aoki's booking shit. I've heard of some queeny actions by some dj's but, asking for a window seat in a business class? That makes it to the top one.
Even though Lil Louis is a name 99% of underground electronic scene followers know, he is a pioneer and all that stuff. But I didn't know the more years you've been into it the more bitchy you can be. With that money they coulda booked better dj's (speaking of mixing).
The good thing is that this story is not finished, I mean, a lot of dj's must have read this by now, and I'm really looking forward to read or listen their reactions. Specially the most honest and funny like sneak or ferrer.
