good reason to come back to sonar festival!

I'm taking it as read that Kraftwerk will be on Sonar by Night. But if anyone knows whether Lindstrom & Todd Terje, and Vatican Shadow, will also be appearing in by Night, would appreciate the heads up :-)

mmm...I love MACBA, it is an amazing venue...all depends by how will organizers invest in making this other Fira a confortable place where to spend afternoons...setting for light hours is very important, otherwise there are many Sonar OFF events in better locations!

not agree... MACBA is in the old city center, intimate, while 'Gran Fira' is the old site of Barcelona's fair. Big loss of character and charme! maybe the neighbors won, but all we are losing a lot, who cares now two venues are only 10 minutes far??? The reason is there will fill more people, but if they propose us a worst place and such bad 'artists' as skrillerx, I'm not sure more folks will go!!!

so wack. i loved the daytime vibe of being in the middle of the city and easy access to my hotel and outside food.

This sucks, but lets face it, the MACBA was getting too small for the numbers. I can remember missing most of Nico Jaar's set in 2011 because the queue for the hall was so long. Just hope they have a decent, cheap transport system in place and we dont have to be at the mercy of the usual BCN 1000 punters to 1 taxi scenario.

Saying that this sucks is not enough. 90% of the reason why Sonar was so great was its chillful location and the possibility to take a walk around the city centre between shows.

Now, having to spend the whole day in the middle of nowhere is making me consider selling my tickets.

Looking on the map it doesn't seem that far away? I've been to Barca twice and the size of the city didn't seem that bad for walking...

Im sceptical about this. In one way I find it quite exciting that there will be something new about sonar the next time I go, and to be fair I've always had a good time so maybe I should trust the organisers to do things right at the new place but it feels like so much of the sonar experience was to do with THAT place in the city centre.

Not fair to judge until I've seen the new place but I'm sceptical and a bit sad to think I'll never party at the old spot ever again.

One of the main reasons to got to Sonar was the fabulous day time setting around Magba. Bad news!

The old venue was fantastic - great space(s)
and central. For me Sonar By Day has just got better and better over the years - and the venue makes it.

a good reason do not go this year. The old place was fantastic. Really a bad move, that transform Sonar in a very commun festival ground. Totally disappointed.

19 years in the same place, as much as its a cool venue and no one will take change very easily, its probably about time.

my first sonar...what should i expect?

questions:
1. the line-up currently posted isn't the final line-up right? compared to previous years it seems like it's only 1/4 of the artists that end up on the final bill. it seems like they add more artists in march and more in april.
2. since sonar day changed venues, should i save my money and attend all of the other sonar OFF day parties instead, and only attend sonar nights?
3. do tickets sell out? can i buy individual tickets at the door, the day of the event?

1. no, about ~ 70 more names are to be announced (and they better have some gems, lineup for now is ok, nada much, esp. compared to Primavera).
2. well that's more of your personal taste and energy. I'd suggest having the 2-night ticket, and leave the day events for your choice when there.
3. usually they do not, but I'm not sure if there are 2-night tckts avial at the door.

Ughhh sooo iffy about this. I want to go but I'm probably going to have to go solo. Can anyone help a Sonar first timer out. Explain things a little more? Like what is the difference between the day and night parties, is Sonar in one big venue, like Glastonbury? And if so, do people camp or do they stay around the venue? Is the venue in or around Barcelona? Help appreciated. Taking some time off work for this, so Im just trying to plan this ahead of time.

Im unable to attend this event and im selling my ticket to a friend how do i change the name on the E-ticket?

Sonar by day has changed venue since the last tme I was there. I wasnt too fussed by it then either. It's a few stages and small tents and quite a tame affair.

Sonar by night (Fri & Sat) is held a few miles away from Las Ramblas. You can get to and from the venue easily via buses near the bottom of Las Ramblas for a few euros. These buses are put on by Sonar.

Sonar by night is in one HUGE venue spplit into massive rooms, Some are roofless. Nobody camps, people rent apartments in Barcelona or use hotels.
