| #1 / Mon, 03 Dec 12 02:14 This guy is full of shit. He went from mainstream dubstep/ dnb material to slightly off-centre pop and never the reason why Switch jumped ship is adressed. Apparently mr. Diplo initiated a new bandwagon and is doing very well from it, but the pretense it involves vision and selecting skills is laughable. The reality is probably more like the ex BC members he worked with refused to sell out to this world of 'new pop' because they didnt really have to and still have some principles. Download a daw and work with Madonna in 3 months. How out of touch can you be? Latin pop and trap, and crossovers inbetween apparently are getting big, but cant wait for this fad to pass and Diplo to fall out of grace and never be heard of again.

| #3 / Mon, 03 Dec 12 02:45 i'm no big fan of diplo (business practice or music, albeit mad decent has released good music in the past, see: schlachofthebronx, first hollertronix mixtape, south rakkas crew) but if you're waiting for diplo to never be heard from again i'd settle in cause you might be there a while.
the musical specifics of the fad you mention are irrelevant: diplo is a tastemaker for a demographic which you, clearly, are not a part of (to be clear: neither am i). but this is a large demographic and one which is currently expanding. if you look at diplo's history and moreover the direction mad decent has taken, diplo has, rather effectively, shifted between demographics and styles to form a relatively solid conglomerate of listeners and potential listeners based on his and mad decent's output.
the most pressing point in the article is most certainly one of global identity and the integrity regarding that, which diplo either utterly lacks or makes a concerted effort at maintaining, depending on your point of view.
also, if you can't recognize that the madonna comment is hyperbole, i have a bridge to sell you
