Congratulations Levon!

And that Rrose Electronique mix is unreally good (just like all his mixes this year)

So much in this list I've not listened to yet, a little shameful!

Congrats to Levon, by far and away my favourite of 2012 too. Not so sure about Ben Klocks effort, would bump it for Zip's fabric mix personally.

Good read :)

Nice to see Smallpeople and Nick Hoppner's efforts in there, those were my highlights of the year.

Enjoying the new format - a lot of stuff to check out from the online mixes

Levon Vincent #1 and no sign of Guy Gerber's Fabric Mix in the Top Ten? #fail

Exactly my thought.

Paul Woolford's Lab mix was also one of my favourites this year

Nice list on the whole, however the Svreca ssgs mix is ten times better than the Morphosis.

Omg!

fav's: Only 4 U: The Sound of Cajmere & Cajual, Shangaan Shake, Minimal Wave Tapes Vol. 2, Journey of the Deep Sea Dweller & Metal Dance.

Morphosis - mnml ssgs mx fnl - MIX OF THE YEAR.

What so Levon doesn't deserve it and GG does?
For me, Levon's fabric mix is one of the best in the series. (Along with Villalobos' and Omar-S)
And I dont think Gerber's is even in the same ballpark. Thats just me.
Well deserved Levon, Ben, Nick. Really nice to see some love for Smallpeople as well, a pair of unrated producers and DJs.

What about Paul Woolford? It is one of the most memorable mixes this year, much better than Tiga's crap, and more consistent than Hoeppner's PB!

It was indeed excellent, a delight to listen to. I would say that the Klock Fabric was mighty though, possibly the best Techno entry in the series.

C'on wake up! Ding Dong!!!!

Trevino's fact mix which came out a few days ago, obviously wouldn't make the list in time but definitely suggest everyone has a listen:

One for the year!

(As well as a bunch of Boiler Room mixes, agreed.)

What an absolute travesty. Guy Gerber's should have been on this list, probably at #2.

At least RA got something right and put Levon Vincent rightfully at #1.

Missing from this list:

Photek - DJ Kicks
Icicle - Rinse 19
Pinch - Fabriclive 61
Erol Alkan - Another Bugged Out Mix

Although disagreement is inevitable i do agree with RA and it's staff: think about it people RA staff are 24:7 into this field of work and know what the F THEY ARE DOING. Why does everyone have to be so picky damnit.??

I am genuinely surprised no-one's mentioned John Talabot's beautiful FACT mix, simply because it was sooo damn good. The plethora of on-line mixes does rather make selections and non-selections a bit of a minefield admittedly. But it really is that good.

sounds like they need more variety amongst their staff. the list was predictably boring.

and ben klock well...he could drop the stylus onto an old, decaying dog poo and still get critical appraisal from RA

My thoughts exactly. I think RA is trying too hard to meet the expectations of its readers. I'm not so sure that objectively Ben Klock and Norman Nodge both deserved to be so high up. At the very least, I thought Norman Nodge's was a far better release than Klock's. But alas, Norman Nodge is not the #5 DJ on RA's list.

a lot of my favorites are on the unofficial list.

The GG is more of an Album than a compilation. I don't understand why people are even bringing it up in this thread.

Given how RA pulled a fast one on us and put Guy Gerber in the livesets list and not the DJ list, perhaps you may be right - they chose to put Guy Gerber in the top albums list. Which I could understand.

I don't understand the obsession with this levon vincent mix, I think Zip's fabric mix was better and neither one should be anywhere near the top slot...

Yeah that is true. But RA put Villalobos and Omar S efforts on their top 50 mixes of the 00´s list and they had the same concept as GG´s fabric.

While I understand why it couldn't be included, I think Zabiela's RA podcast was the best and most thoughtfully put together mix of the year.

Love the new format!

WIth that said, I have no clue how Levon's and especially Klock's Fabric mixes were rated so highly. Levon's mix was solid, but his mix for mnml ssgs a few years ago was much better. Hell, his RA podcast was better. As for Klock, well it was OK, just frustratingly boring at times.

The effort from Dope Jams should be much higher.

OK I'm done bitching, I have a ton of new music to listen to.
