Ally...500 x 20 = 10,000, in case you're not sure. That seems like quite a lot of money to me?

It probably isn't that much money once you have paid for hiring the venue, booking all the dj's, providing security, hiring a decent sound and lighting rig, a door girl, bar staff, end of night cleaners, promotions...and they are going to want to make a bit of money, not to mention having float to cover their arse if anything goes wrong!

| #34 / Sun, 03 Feb 13 14:13 i would much rather pay 20 quid to see dixon in an intimate venue than pay a tenner and see him in a venue double in size or more. Given how big he's got (he probably costs 3-5k), its going to be quite rare to see him in such an intimate space anymore.
bargain i would say.

You're supposed to listen (and dance) to DJs. Not look at them.

| #36 / Sun, 03 Feb 13 19:37 No Elizabeth, you're supposed to listen to the music DJs play, not to the DJs themselves. If you're going to be pedantic, get it right.

| #37 / Mon, 04 Feb 13 08:24 Is this grumbling pre a event a RA thing ? The simple fact is its a empty space . no bar no system no lights no security no DJs .. to those coming we are opening a hour earlier so now its 9 .

I don't think recognizing there is a difference between 'seeing' and 'hearing' is being pedantic. I go to hear DJs (occasionally), not see them. Playing music is what they do. (At least it's what they are supposed to do; some of them seem more interested in mincing around.)

| #40 / Mon, 04 Feb 13 11:07 @ Faithkeeper - this event is the most expensive warehouse event I've been to. It's unusual not to have tiered ticket prices. I paid £5 to see Dixon in London for 8 hours in November. That event had to sort out security, lighting etc.
Whilst no doubt everyone is excited for the event and appreciates you putting it on, £20 is definitely at the very highest end for what's reasonable for a club night and for that money, the sound & logistics should be faultless.

bigger venue and i imagine that a. the hire cost would have been lower as it was used for three (i think) Hydra parties and b. hackney wick rents will be lower than wapping. Similarly security/bar staff for the Hyrda parties may have been contracted for every show, again ensuring lower costs. Some of the people involved in this party have been around for, literally, decades. I've no doubt that they're doing everything possible to make it a great night for ALL concerned

| #48 / Mon, 04 Feb 13 23:50 Blimey o'reilly. I look at this slightly differently. I winced slightly when I saw the price. And I winced slightly at not being offered the 5 levels of ticket price you often see now, but never saw 10 years ago. But I figured I was happy with the opportunity to experience a big name in a small space, put on by people with a track record that stretches back to when Shoom was still going. I am already really excited about this and we're still 10 days away.

| #50 / Tue, 05 Feb 13 13:30 i would definitely pay more to see a top DJ in an intimate space vs a huge 1000+ capacity venue.
i cant believe that anyone would think otherwise. the smaller the better, a smaller crowd almost always improves your experience and you tend to get more people who are there for the music rather than just to get shitfaced.
