what is the best way for traveling over there? hotels? hostels? i've been looking around for hotels and it all seems quite expensive (85€ p.person/each night) and it seems u have to checkout at 10AM already, so u should book atleast 2 nights if u wanna party for real... anyway i'm looking forward to it, it takes place at my birthday so i'm really in the mood for it!!!!!
Try looking for "Pension" or "Hotel Garni".
(Hostels are not a bad option, some of them offer individual rooms (bet that is getting booked out quick though, with so many thousands attending...)
These come, at most, with breakfast only, and should be less than EUR 85.
You also DO NOT need to stay in Mannheim, look in the local vicinity, including across the Rhine.
The public transportation across that whole region permits this.
(I think there is a festival-pass that includes travel, check with the event)
If money is truly tight, there isn't even a need to book a Saturday night, would just be a clothes drop anyway.
You can store your stuff at the Mannheim main train station, not expensive
(meaning, book Friday night, book Sunday night, and when "checking out" Saturday morning, drop at station. For total cheapness, if a PITA).
Plus there are some pretty well known clubs in the area, (Loft still around?), maybe some of the recent attendees here can fill you in on the scene around time-warp.
@ last poster:
yes, a lot of the same line-up from past years (didn't compare for exactness).
So, you wouldn't go because of THAT?
Anything wrong with it other than lack of "newness"?
How about they bring in Skrillex, Avicii or Tiesto, that suit you fine?
In any case, there is only so much can do in 18 hours, and with all the compelling, if known, names on the line-up, who would you pass up in favor of "new"?
Or, even more serious, who should the promoter bump for "new"?
If this is a problem, attendance will drop, and they'll freshen-up.
For my part, I just wish I could fly in (hmmmmm...)
