You'd be forgiven for thinking the electronic music world had gone all German of late. While minimal continues to extend its stranglehold, the French electronic underground is staging its own cultural uprising. From the scene that gave birth to Daft Punk (who's recent
Coachella show looked spectacular), comes another prodigious class adequately endowed with the requisite gaelic flair.
Leading the charge is
And Did We Mention Our Disco whose Parisian invasion takes over Canvas. Mr 'flatbeat'
Ozio shares top billing with
Justice, whose Waters of Nazareth release is still conquering dancefloors following its re-release. They are joined by
Ed Banger Records stars
Busy P and
Sebastian, and Uffie's production partner
Feadz. The line up is completed by Kavinsky, Our Disco residents and a special live guest.
Meanwhile downstairs at The Key,
Isst present the world-wide DJ debut of
Alan Braxe. Monsieur Braxe is best known as one half of Stardust, who together with friend Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk) sold over two million copies of their 'Music sounds better with you' release. More recently Braxe's has built an almost cult following with his Parisian label Vulture and remixes for Royksopp, Goldfrapp and Bjork. Sharing the bill is Vulture label mate
Kris Menace, Issst main men Kevin Griffiths and Bobby M, Cagedbaby, Boys Noize and rising
Get Physical talent
Williams.
