Looking forward to this one. I have both of the other new Renaissance album and they're very good but I like Nick's a bit more than Hernan's.

I'm always going to support Renaissance as they're one of the first mixed comps I ever got and I've been getting pretty much everyone since, so glad they're back.

Stick on some Basic Channel and questions about whether Tale of Us should be mixing a Renaissance comp or if the tunes are pretty obvious will not matter any more. There is a time and a place for a lot of music and if you don't want to find that time or place then don't. Personally I think this looks like it will be a great addition to a long running series that I'm sure many of us have grown up with. It is business and you have to change with the times. I know it was Gatecrasher who said "Never Stand Still" but surely that is an appropriate ethos for anyone in this industry, especially people who sell mix cds? My top tip for a decent recent mix cd is Acid Pauli's Get Lost V, fucking aces! M.A.N.D.Y.'s Renaissance mix wasn't half bad either...

great move by Renaissance... listening to the tracklist samples (http://renaissance.dj/product/tale-of-us/) I think Tale of Us are exactly where Renaissance should be in 2013... shrewd move for ToU too imo!...agree with naamoma on Mathew Jonson too.

Biased, I know, but it's a great album and if Renaissance selected Tale of Us they did it for a reason... and vice versa.

there's nothing questionable about it for me... a compilation series moving forwards musically and Tale of Us having a great platform to get their music heard by a wider audience

i think that if u don't like it, u just want to say you're underground, because u think they're not enough.
but i heard them lot of times, last one 20 days ago, and well i think they got their dimension and no one is in their same line.
the proof is their last ep and all upcoming things in next months.
this compilation contains pure quality music, and who says that a track is not cool only because has been mainstreamed is not properly a good talker.
success doesn't meen everytime shitty music. maybe there is a reason why a track become an anthem no? (as koze rmx inside here for example)
i think they just did a very good selection, trough the past and present, no unreleased shit to look likes lucky boys, but something that can be on everyones hands, showing they got a good taste not even thankfull the promotions.

Not necessarily though, a person can like it or not... I don't have a problem with that, hell I might end up liking it. I'm not sure if you're talking about liking the choice of having tale of us or liking the actual mix compilation (something I can't comment on so much since I haven't heard it in its entirety.)

I just get the vibe that Tale of Us are more about their image than the music itself. Like, the music they play seems to be a tool to present an image, rather than music for music's sake. I'm not claiming they are that way, but that's certainly the vibe I get from them. Maybe it's Mateo's particularly stylish hat and his neatly trimmed stylish beard with his ever so stylish jacket and ... well you get the idea.

Hernan Cattaneo on the other hand seems to be one of the rare dj's truly driven by the music itself.

Wonder why RA did not review Nick Warren's Renaissance The Masters Series 2013 or for that matter the one from Hernan Cattaneo in 2012?

RA did not care about Nick Warren's or Hernan's Masters Series. They felt it was too much the same, even though the mixes themselves are great. So, they made a deal with Renaissance that they would help advertise as long as they got someone more "hip" and "trendy" such as Tale of Us. This is a marketing move, nothing more.

RA only reviews trendy Berghain techno and throwback deep house. Anything else (god forbid prog), isn't cool or hip enough

I think it's kind of cool to be honest. I grew up on Renaissance and Global Underground, so it was exciting so see Renaissance relauch in 2011 with new mixes from Seaman, Warren and Hernan (Even though those guys don't really do it for me musically in 2013 I still think they are good dj's.)

Since around 2008 artists like Mathew Johnson and Donato Dozzy have been some of the most inspirational to me. It's interesting to finally see these worlds collide

I love this album, its deep with nicely place simple smooth melodies, its just a great mix imo.

Renaissance needs to sort out distribution issues as this is very hard to find in the States.

I always order via amazon.co.uk...Too hard to find any of these releases in the states since they dropped Ultra as a distributor. Anyways, this is a great compilation. Quite accessible.
