 | RA Review Electronic music has always had its murkier corners, but the fog seems to have settled particularly thickly of late. Peering through the gloom, you glimpse the likes of Demdike Stare and Haxan Cloak shaping music as unnerving as the occult tales from which they take their names. Meanwhile, industria..

Yeah "The Great Mother Down The Stairs" and that Remix EP were great. I mean all of their music has been really gritty but this album in particular is really well produced. I kind of giggled that reviewer felt it necessary to point out the most "dance floor friendly" track. The whole point of music like this is that it isn't traditionally floor friendly (but that in no way should stop it from being used on the floor). If someone dropped "The Lord Won't Forget" in a set I'd go nuts.

| #14 / Fri, 19 Apr 13 21:38 It really is excellent, one of the best albums I've heard this year simply because it is so po-faced without seeming ridiculous. You sense they're earnest in their darkness, not like Demdike.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Demdike Stare aren't earnest in their approach. They just have a different approach, which is more soundtrack orientated and mood based. I agree with you about this album though. It's pretty much a no holes barred assault on the senses.
