The release of TAM075 welcomes you all to the 10th birthday year of 3am Recordings, a decade after the label launch in 2003.
So to kick the year off, it seems only right to start the year with a release from label boss Al Bradley, whose profile has shot up over the last couple of years with tracks & remixes for labels including Bulletdodge, Bounce House, Paper, Deepology, Midnight Social, TUG, Click Therapy, Savoir Faire Musique, Back To The Future, Gooseneck & forthcoming cuts already in place for 2013 for labels including Baker Street, Headset, i Records & Deep Site Space amongst others. Al's remix for Berlin's Tanztone Records was also included in Beatport's "Must Have" Top 10 Nu-Disco Chart for Jan 2013.
The "3am Deep EP" showcases the different guises under which Al produces, namely in his own name (deeper house), Chemical Warfare (a bit more techy) & Audiotonic (slower grooves). It also is a nod to the original 12" releases on 3am when the label was launched, which were 3-track EPs with no remixes, plus the artwork echoes the original spirit too.
Kicking off the EP is the title track, which is more typical of the majority of tracks & remixes Al has produced over the last few years. With a solid bassline & a change to tremolo chords as the topline midway through the track, giving a warmth to the deep vibe & creating a cut which is equally at home mid-set or later on for those deep-house-after-hours sets.
Next up is "Architektur", this time upping the BPM & heading into more of tech-house territory. With rattling percussive elements, bouncing bass & a heavy breakdown, this showcases the slightly tougher side to the productions Al favours.
Last up is the raw acid house vibe of "Stereosleazin", which is a reference to the residency Al holds at the Horse&Groom in London, this time under the Audiotonic name. With a spoken voiceover from one of the pioneers of acid-house, this cut is a little reference to the how Al got his introduction to house music, via acid house & the late 80s/early 90s vibes at legendary Manchester club The Hacienda.
Al Bradley "3am Deep EP" (TAM075) is release on 4th February (Beatport) / 4th March (Worldwide)
