| #0 / Thu, 14 Dec 06 19:01 Get Physical turn to English house DJ Jesse Rose for the third edition in their popular Body Language series. 'Body Language Vol. 3' will be released mid-February.
Jesse Rose is one of those bubbling under names whose move to Get Physical just might break him internationally. But if you look closely at the record bins, you'll find his name everywhere: recently he's released on Dubsided, Will Saul's Simple label (as Content) and Mobilee as well as Derrick Carter's Classic label (as Induceve). Rose also runs three – count 'em – record labels, The Front Room, Loungin' and his latest addition Made to Play, releasing the likes of Solid Groove, Trevor Loveys and Stefan Goldmann. “Jesse can do no wrong in my eyes," says Output head Trevor Jackson. "He's always diverse and never scared to do his own thing."
Given Rose's background in house music, perhaps the hook up with Get Physical isn't such a surprise. He was first asked by the label to remix 'Vejer' by Riton vs Heidi, and he now lives in Berlin, Get Physical's base, where he has a monthly residency at the Panorama Bar. Why the move to Germany? "I needed a change from London. I had been living there for ten years and it's a hardcore place at the best of times," says Rose. “There's only so many clubs and after parties you can do. Because I had played in Berlin quite a lot over the past six or seven years, I had already made good friends here."
Although Rose had already hooked up with Get Physical, he was still surprised when they asked him to mix the third 'Body Language' CD. "Get Physical is always looking for fresh ideas, but I was honoured that they asked me. They let me do what I wanted, so the mix isn't their typical sound," Rose says.
Rose joins the ranks of stablemates M.A.N.D.Y. and DJ T. with his 'Body Language' mix, on which he includes a number of his own Dubsided, Classic and Made to Play productions, as well as more than a few chopped up hip-hop samples. “Using hip-hop is part of a general attitude," Rose explains. “If you listen to house music when you're making house music, that's when things go wrong. I did the mix using two turntables and a CD deck. It took me three weeks to do properly. Don't ask me why I didn't just do it on a computer - maybe I feel DJing should be involved, a performance, rather than just looking like someone checking their emails on a laptop."
Aside from his own tracks, 'Body Language 3' includes some bigger like-minded tunes such as Radio Slave's remix of 'Deer in the Headlights', Bobby Peru's 'Erotic Discourse' and Aril Brikha's perennial stomper 'Groove La Chord' from 2002. “I decided to end the mix with 'Groove La Chord' because I started off playing Detroit and Chicago music, so what better way to end my first mix?" says Rose.

| #5 / Sat, 23 Dec 06 16:58 Thats true, but there is probably a reason why the track is there.. Im sure it fits perfectly in with the other tracks..
Or maybe he is doing his friend a favour by exploiting his name even more!

| #6 / Sat, 23 Dec 06 21:45 Hey Guys, sorry to spoil the fun but looks like my fave label in thee world has finally hit a bump! Im sure there are alot of people out there who would disagree with me but this ain't the sound we have come to expect from the finest in house music. It may be that GPR are trying to show another dimension to there sound but unfortunetly it disapoints... Props to Jesse,Im a big fan of his and his productions ,but I feel that there are some old tracks on here that could've easily been replaced by some other newer stuff from the label...e.g Deer In The Headlights and Erotic Discourse... Have a listen and tell me what you think... Peace

| #7 / Sat, 23 Dec 06 23:03 You're right, it isn't very Get Physical.
Deer In The Headlights (Remix) is a tune though, never get bored of that.

| #9 / Sun, 24 Dec 06 04:09 yeah, I agree , too...
what I always expect from Get Physical is to surprise me with something new, creative and beyond imagination...
and from the tracklist above, I don't get that impression at all... old tracks... defo not the Get Physical sound...
I think if Get Physical wants a UK sounding act.. John Dahlback is a good idea...
but let's wait and hear it... might be pretty good after all...

| #10 / Tue, 26 Dec 06 02:49 A label sticking to a predictable, expected sound is what will ultimately be its demise. The GP lads are broad minded enough to realise that chuggin' out standard sounding stripped back tech-house is going to get bored. The Dubsided crew, Rose etc. are certainly keeping the house sound fresh. I say bring it on

no waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! really? I didn't know that at all I thought Dahlbäck is an original English name lol you're funny... it's not important where an artist comes from...in our case John...what matters is that his sound is extremely close to the UK one... that's why I put him in the UK Sound group... e.g. Stefan Goldmann is Bulgarian, but when you listen to his production, all you can think of is German Sound... anyways, no point of arguing...obvo we had been talkin bout different things...

| #14 / Mon, 08 Jan 07 10:09 I agree here. I think it's their weakest compilation so far. There are some fresh house tracks on it. But it doesn't have the same innovative feeling that the body language mix cd's had before. Normally the Get Physical sound is deeper more on a minimal techno tip with an elektro-touch. This is bumpty-house. I would rather give radioslave, my my, or maybe even shinedoe. They are all connected to the label. Sorry for the english.

 | RA Review Some people (some even at the very RA office) would like you to believe that mixed compilations on compact discs, in the age of digital live recordings, Proton Radio, and immediate availability, are a dead format. I mean, why would we pay for an 80-minute Fabric compilation when any artist's live se..

Ok, fair enough.. But I wouldn't say Dalhback has an English sound, and why devide them into different countries?? German sound! Most of the minimal sound in Germany at the moment is taken and inspired by UK and Canadian acts like Baby Ford (UK) and Richie Hawtin (UK, CAN). I wouldnt say they have a German sound. And if you look at the profilic deep house and minimal producers from Germany like Steve Bug and Lo Soul, they have both adopted the earlier sounds of Charles Webster and Jon Tejada and so on. The scene is similar in most cities I've played over Europe. The Spanish/Ibiza scene is just as minimal and drugged out as the London scene, same with Paris. Germany is the same... Its not like there is more percussion in Spanish produced tracks than in German productions... And what about James Holden, the most profilic producer of all, where is his sound from? And if you think the UK sound is about macho Dalhback electro-house then you're all wrong. Acctually I think most DJ's over here explores the deeper sounds of deep house and minimal.
