it is not working because the Resident Advisor podcast number is wrong
It worked just fine for me when I tryed ra.ratm.net/RA038_061218_StaceyPullen-residentadvisor.net.mp3 instead of: ra.ratm.net/RA037_061218_StaceyPullen-residentadvisor.net.mp3
chill out, webmaster
more attention

Smooth sounds, btw.

Seems like every DJ from Detroit is about 2 years out of date with their tune selection, bar Jeff Mills who is 8 years out of date.

honestly who gives a fuck how old the tracks are....if it's good then play that shit. imo most of the music that came out this year was pretty ordinary.

p.s. Stacey Pullen is a legend!!!

I have a bit of a soft spot for Stacey Pullen ever since I heard his 1996 Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. Absolute genius all the way - first half vocal / deep house, the second half deep detroit techno. I can safely say that this was the mix that got me into house music in the first place. I still listen to it today.

Thanks and keep up the good work. Bow

yeah,,,
saw derrick may recently and he just played a really dated set (heaps of music i hadnt heard) but all the new tunes he played was stuff like Rej and Falling Up...

Carl Craig doesn't seem to fall into that trap tho judging by his chartsss..

If it's good music it's good music. Who really cares how fresh the tracks are?? I'd rather he play good stuff than stuff just because it's new.

Because it's not innovative and I'd expect more from the worlds best DJ's. There is good new stuff too.

of course it`s gonna be a nice set, it`s stacy pullen, not the next door pub's dj... so this famous and legendary guys receive free new material and dedicate their life to search for music, new stuff.
1- they should really show us what's new, "make your transition"
2- due to that, maybe "old" stuff is still better or more soulful
???? i don't know

of course it's still a very good podcast, thanks...
this one rates as old classics for me, taste fine.

This is what happens when you get bigger name DJ's to do mixes. They just send in an old recording not a specific mix.

Do you know that essential mix of 96 I have on tape under lock and key its an absolute gem. Stacey Pullen could rock any party with old or new tracks it just don;t matter. True star player Pullen....

No need to have it under lock and key. You could go to freshlymixed.com and download it infinite times. That Essential Mix is very good... it sounds more innovative/ahead of it's time than this podcast even in 2006.

I felt this mix (or the recording anyway ) lacked a bit of bottom end.
I enjoyed the track selection though and the minxing wasn't too bad either,

bass is fine to me, relative to todays standards
don't get me started on the lack of bass/mastering in tracks these days
bloody digital tracks *grumble grumble*

tracks are old.
mix is uninspiring.
and yeah his 96 is a classic.

I must admit that I had one of the most amazing nights of my life watching Stacey in Melbourne@chevron along with Derrick Carter(Anyone remember THAT night?).It was about 7-8 years ago. This mix has no flow to be honest.Tracks dont fit well together and yes they are quite dated. There's a difference playing "dated" tracks and "classic" tracks, sadly not many classics on this mix.Disapointing along with his disapointing Fabric mix!!! Or are we just expecting too much from "one of the worlds greatest DJ'S"????

No flow??

I dont agree with you there my friend..
Awsome mix!

Pullen is one of the most soul-swinging groove led techno djs there is, so was this mix.. There's a reason he's still playing fabric as well as being one of craig richards favourites. They are quite picky there..

Stacy Pullen, Terry Francis and Steve Bug Woo

stay tuned!

Stacey Pullen is one of the DJs that's completely blown me away with their mixing. He has a certain taste for music that no matter if its hot off the press or old as dirt, rocks a crowd into a fever on the dancefloor. I am not a big dancer, however I really could not stop dancing for the 2 hours or so he played in San Francisco a couple of years back. It is one of my best techno experiences ever, and there have been more than a few.

Yo, can someone ID the track that occurs basically between 8 min and 12 min? It sounds sooooo familiar, in fact I think I have it somewhere but just can't figure it out!

PS: Mr. Pullen has never disappointed me and this mix is no exception. A true music lover.
