| #0 / Thu, 18 Jan 07 05:50 The popular British snowboarding rave Snowbombing is back this April for its seventh year. Dubbed the world's biggest winter music festival, Snowbombing takes place in Mayrhofen, Austria over Easter weekend.
'Piste by day, beats by night' goes the slogan, and this year the festival has even added a dozen bands or so to the lineup. Digitalism, James Zabiela and Justice head up a lineup of bands and DJs including The Scratch Perverts, Switch, James Lavelle, James Zabiela, Justice, M.A.N.D.Y, Rob da Bank, Evil Nine, The Glimmers, Simian Mobile Disco, Soul of Man, Williams, Tayo, Greg Wilson, DJ Medhi, DJ Feadz, Todd Terje, Trevor Loveys, Jesse Rose and Uffie to name a few.
Snowbombing is held at the popular ski resort Mayrhofen, one of Austria's most snow-sure late season resorts. The ski area entered the big leagues four years ago when new lifts increased runs by forty percent, and this year sees the addition of Austria's biggest cablecar. Mayrhofen is also a stone's throw from the mighty Tux glacier - Austria's highest lifted point at 3,475m, which is reached by the highest double chairlift in the world. All access passes are available for the week - no need to ski the same slope twice.
If music and snow aren't enough for you, Snowbombing also involves lots of other chances to indulge in bad behaviour abroad: snow making competitions, fancy dress ski days, pub quizzes, bin bag races, comedy nights, snow bingo and a street party that's always guaranteed to cause a roadblock.
Five nights in a self-catering apartment plus a wristband for the festival will cost you £219. Check the Snowbombing website for other packages and discounts.
Line-up / Live: Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, The Young Knives, The Long Blondes, The Sunshine Underground, Digitalism, Just Jack, The Rumblestrips, Vincent Vincent & The Villains, The Cuban Brothers, Mr Hudson & The Library, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Hot Club de Paris, The.. moreCost / Check website for packages

| #3 / Thu, 18 Jan 07 13:35 Really impressed with the variation on the line-up this year. Much stronger than the last few. That combined with the fact that i think it will be a late season, means I'll be attending...

Really well run, good crowds and superb banter.

| #26 / Fri, 20 Apr 07 17:44 I've read a few posts, and it sounds like a lotta people had a really good time. Also heard a few had a few problems. Is there anywhere where people can make suggestions to improve it next year.

thats thread was locked for legal reasons. one person out of thousands had a gripe and because they couldnt get through to the office they decided to spout a load of shit on the internet. This is now being dealt with through the correct channels. If you would like to give any feedback to the event feel free to PM me and i'll send you my email address

| #30 / Tue, 24 Apr 07 16:41 with regards to artists not turning up:
SMD cancelled due to press committments for the new album.
Digitalism cancelled the day before as they had to make a video. Make your own mind up on that. ;-)
Also, Alan Braxe's missed his flight.
All of these were beyond our control.
With regards to the Igloo, as far as i know everyone appeared as advertised.
With regards to set time changes, these were forced upon us by the venue's issuing us with curfew times in November and then changing them on the nights willy-nilly. It's a teething problem based around local politics and in a place like that you sometimes have to play ball a little. It caused me endless problems but you just have to get the show on.
I didn't get too many concerns from punters on this issue.
I agree with every other aspect of the reveiw, especially Lavelle's set which was an absolute pearler!!
PS Anyone coming to Beachbombing???
Line-up looking like this so far...
PARTIES HOSTED BY....
TAYO'S TRACKSUIT PARTY CHEW THE FAT! SUMO
ARTISTS CONFIRMED SO FAR:
HYBRID SWITCH THE CUBAN BROTHERS TAYO UNIQUE 3 JOE RANSOM THE LOOSE CANNONS PAUL 'TROUBLE' ARNOLD MEN IN MASKS MARC ROBERTS
PLUS MORE TBC....

| #31 / Tue, 24 Apr 07 23:14 (Edited: 24 Apr 07 23:24) Bad form to cheerlead a review of your own party. Whether it was good or not is for the punters to judge, not you.
It's about the same as producer getting on one of his own review threads and saying "Yeah, I agree. My album was great."

| #32 / Tue, 24 Apr 07 23:23 Na - fair play - answering questions raised in review.
Its an open forum, why should the promoter come on here and explain the reasons behind the issues documented in the review.
Sure, "i agree with the rest of the review" is obvious given the rest of the review is positive, i'm certainly glad to get an official line behind why artists are no shows etc.
Still poor form for them to be billed and late pull outs - Album work / video shoots etc should all be planned in advance and thus they shouldn't be booked.

| #33 / Wed, 25 Apr 07 12:08 i totally agree on the late no shows. if i was promoting an album the last thing i would want to do is pull out of a big show!
With regards to the chap who wasn't happy about me coming on here and responding to the review:
1. Its a forum 2. Its a democracy 3. I only feel it's right that a promotor should answer any gripes regarding an event in a prompt and honest way. At the end of the day, it's a consumer led industry, and the consumers deserve answers if all the product isn't all there. 4. With regards to me agreeing with the rest of the review, it's because it refelects the vast majority of the feedback we've been getting on the event from both press and punters. 5. are you coming next year?

they were both booked over 3 months before the festival, and were advertised from that point. We weren't the only show Simian cancelled over that period, and as for Digitalism, i think the less said the better really - except that i agree that artists who have committed to a festival should not be scheduling promotional stuff when they are supposed to be playing gigs

| #35 / Wed, 25 Apr 07 13:15 My complaint is simply that you've invited the press along to cover your event, and now you're passing judgement on their assessment of it. That is not your place.
It's okay to explain why things went wrong, but whether the review meets your approval or not is neither here nor there.
Would I go to this event? No, I wouldn't. It's not my kind of deal - I am a crappy skiier.
