Luke Fair delivers a housey mix on the latest installment in the Balance series.

Fair first emerged as a producer in the early noughties, handing in big remixes for Max Graham and Satoshi Tomiie before later popping up on John Digweed's Bedrock label with one of 2005's biggest progressive cuts 'Ultraviolet' .

Next month Fair adds to his previous mix volumes on Yoshitoshi and Bedrock with a housey double-CD in the Balance series that includes cuts by artists such as Francois K, Tiger Stripes, Charles Webster, Timewriter, 16 Bit Lolitas and Tom Novy. A glance at the tracklist and it looks like Luke Fair will be spinning the housier end of progressive with a dash of electro thrown in for good measure.

RA Review
Once the ugly stepsister of progressive mix compilations, there was a time when the most likely place you’d find a ‘Balance’ mix was in the sales bin. Bill Hamel ‘Balance 003’, anyone? That all changed when James Holden’s ‘Balance 005’ came out. It became a classic, and EQ Grey have been hitting the..

imo the first disc, especially 1-8 is brilliant. I can't begin to explain the beauty that is Wamdue Project - Home Planet after Bioground - Late Summer Nights. not to mention the beautiful tension that the transition between Mitsu - Serene and Acca - Rain creates. that's a very colorful and imaginative selection. tracks that bring vivid images to your head.
to me Balance 011 is one of the few discs that made sense so far, this year.

Disc one has a unique sound from some great track selection. It's not mindblowing but still a great listen.

I am afraid I have to agree I can dig Lukes vibe on disc one but not disc two, of course it needs a few more listens. However IMHO, I think it deserved 4 stars.

CD1 is amazing. I feels organic and not 'perfect' which I really like about it.
