Fabio is the music producer and DJ, Fitzroy Heslop from London, United Kingdom.

Fabio is widely considered as the "godfather" of drum and bass music for which he was one of the early pioneers of in the late 80s and early 90s.

Fabio started off in the scene in 1987 playing on pirate radio, called "Phase 1". Here, he played a mixture of Soul, Jazz and Rare Groove. After this, Fabio got into Acid House as it came along and he then hooked up with Grooverider and together they formed a team. They started getting booked for large-scale events such as, Sunrise, Energy and Biology, which are iconic events in UK club culture that have founded what we now know as club nights.

Fabio has always steered towards the mellow and jazzy side of Drum and Bass and is well known for this style. In fact, he is credited with popularizing the sub-genre known as Liquid funk as well as coining the name.

Liquid Funk has been characterized by influences from disco and house, and widespread use of vocals. Although slow to catch on at first, the style grew massively in popularity around 2003-2004, and by 2005 it was established as one of the biggest-selling subgenres in Drum N Bass.

Fabio began championing "Liquid Funk", with a compilation release of the same name on his Creative Source record label, which was formed in 1994.

Creative Source, which grew from the success of its sister DJ agency, Groove Connection, has become one of the UK's most respected and supported underground outlets for innovative, well-produced and original Drum N Bass. Fabio acts as the A&R man for the label, which keeps him busy spotting new talent.

Fabio came together to work with LTJ Bukem at a club called Speed from 1994 to 1996, which really represented a pinnacle for Drum N Bass because it signified that anything was possible. Musically, anything could go on and the club was considered as the seminal club for Drum N Bass in the formative years of 1994 to 1996.

Fabio also plays with Grooverider on BBC’s Radio 1 for the "One In The Jungle" show, which is the highest profile radio station playing Drum N Bass in the world, which can be heard all over the UK and in the USA and Canada on Sirius Satellite Radio channel 11, not to mention a live and archived Internet stream. Fabio and Grooverider previously had a radio show on London’s Kiss FM before being courted by BBC.

Groove Connection has been supplying the best Drum N Bass DJs worldwide for over 15 years. They are the management and booking agents for Drum N Bass pioneers Grooverider, Fabio, Jumping Jack Frost, Bailey, Addiction, and Storm. Groove Connection also run Fabio's record label, Creative Source Records and one of London’s longest running Drum N Bass nights, called Swerve.
