 | RA Review Following in the footsteps of Hyperdub’s mysterious wunderkind producer Burial, whose self-titled debut LP nearly single-handedly broke dubstep to the masses last year, young Dutch producer 2562’s debut release on Tectonic moves the format even further away from its traditional mold, this time injec..

| #2 / Wed, 18 Jul 07 14:52 This is my first exploration into the genre of "grime/dubstep". This my first review of a "grime/dubstep" 12". For me, this newly created music classification still falls into techno. 2652 is very nice. I enjoyed it...3.5/5. Buy it? Maybe. Drop it in a set? Maybe. Both tracks can be easily worked without a problem. The sounds used in "Channel Two" were intersting and creative. "Circulate" is solid and funky. I listened to some other tracks from Tectonic that were labelled as "grime/dubstep" like "Iron Man" and "Gud Money". Real heavy bass lines. It sounds like ambient/techno smashed onto hip-hop/rap....bpm's. Better yet.....haha....sounds like...Tiesto eating a fried catfish dinner with UGK in a topless club. Thus, my question is this....Hasn't Trent Reznor and friends been mixing and remixing this sort of sound for years? Point of reference..."Downward Spiral" and "Perfect Drug".
