The whoring for votes that went on in myspace bulletins and discussion boards was appalling. It really showed which DJ's & agencies were actually pathetic enough to whore for votes in public. Sad...

| #12 / Thu, 11 Oct 07 23:46 this really sucks I know Dan and Christopher are both innocent. And who the fark is Erick Junior from Hong Kong never heard of him

 |
| #13 / Thu, 11 Oct 07 23:52 I'm sure Dan and Lawerence have no fault bout that.... they are sooo busy and have no time to check their mails what to say bout spamming or losing time to log in from different IP addresses....this is so ridiculous!!!
I doubt anyone blames Dan or Lawerence for that...
but still that doesn't change the fact the poll sucks!

| #15 / Fri, 12 Oct 07 01:51 this made me laugh outloud...I saw DJ Dan last week at a club called Tonic in Santa Barbara and there was all this f-ing hype about DJ Dan this Dj Dan that, #5 Dj in the WORLD at this pretentious 'club' in santa barbara... The show was fine, aside from turning off the sound for about 3 minutes, but I would love to forward this article to the manager that was so rude to me when I polietly disagreed over this guys ranking.

If you take only one vote by IP, you save all this problem and keep clean to the artists.... But, is this the first year than DJ Mag take some control of the poll ?? And the lastest years ?? The thousands of votes was some kind the script too ?? And the thousands of votes, they were not thousands of fans voting ? This years the poll is clean ? and the lastest years not ? They looking for a guilty ? Maybe DJ Mag Be guilty for not offering a sure, clean and clear system of vote.... One IP, One Vote... keep it simple...

Posts / 450 RA Since / Aug 2007 Location / The Hague, Netherlands | #22 / Fri, 12 Oct 07 07:35 The DJ's I like never end up at the top anyway. It's always these crappy 'commercial' trancy types like Tiesto and Paul van Dyk, so Sander Kleinenberg must be right about the voters that are attracted to such a poll Any booking agency using such a poll has to be pretty retarded. Since the polls hardly ever seem to distinguish between music styles, what's the point anyway? You can't exactly compare a hard techno and a deep house or a drum and bass dj.

Agreed! It's all about money - and getting on 'the list' increases their rate considerably. It's a poor measure of a DJ's talent.

This foolish quote proves what a total scam this poll is. He's saying that this year voting 49 times for yourself from the same IP address is acceptable. And changing your IP address with a proxy and voting 49 times from each is also acceptable. I shudder to think what went on in previous years if this is their 'new improved security'. The poll should be renamed 'DJ Mag Top 100 Spammers'.

Posts / 41 RA Since / Jun 2007 | #32 / Sat, 13 Oct 07 08:28 It means jack anyway, I remember a few years ago when quality prog DJs (Sasha etc) were at the height of the powers, and Richie Hawtin was taking the craft of DJing into new exciting territories, I was shocked to see some obscure Dutch cheesy trance DJ at the top of the chart. I knew then that the chart had been hijacked by idiots.
There's a story on the Twenty Four Hour Party People DVD from the late great Tony Wilson. Recounting a quote from Sid Vicious when asked if the Sex Pistols made music for 'the man on the street', Sid replied "I've met 'the man on the street', and he's a c#@t".

Posts / 17 RA Since / Oct 2007 | #39 / Sat, 20 Oct 07 08:06 That pole is an excellent example of the instant music culture that has nothing to actually do with the music. This is all bullshit promo work. Half the people voting didn't even hear these DJ play (some of them are not even DJs actually), the other half are their friends/family.
And I don't want to talk about the non-people voting... Maybe they make a big party for bots & scripts headlining DJ Dan, Christofer Lawrence, The Flash Brothers, and of course DJ Tiesmi vs. DJ Yutise as the main course.... hehehe...
