yeah he porobably did think tht.. but there r some enchanting beauties there.  just flying emirates gives an indication of tht.. let alone going out in dubai! if the british foreign ministry flexes, i'm confident his sentence can be lesser than 4. but these politicians dont always do tht for musicians.. good luck to the fella!

that might be true.. sadly. when each country has its own ring of chemicals and marajuana.. still a big fuss over a small amount brought in from another part of the world. n specifically target the 'crowd' to prove their point. we humans can be worst than animals when it comes to 'territorising the land' and the rules and so on.. gangs behind coke bleeded south america.. still no one learnt such a farce

“He will face a possession charge and although blood tests show he took drugs he took them outside the UAE and so this is not under our jurisdiction,” a source at Dubai Public Prosecution said. The 40-year-old drum and bass guru, whose real name is Raymond Bingham, was arrested at Dubai Airport on November 23, after flying in to play a gig at the city’s Lodge nightclub.
Sources said customs officials found pornographic DVDs and cannabis on him after he was searched. Grooverider, who is currently being held at Dubai Airport jail, is the host of the weekly drum and bass radio show ‘Fabio and Grooverider’ on BBC Radio 1.
Whats happened with the Radio1 show? Fabio presenting solo?

- The Dubai Court of First Instance on January 27 heard the case of Grooverider, a popular British disc jockey (DJ) arrested on the charges of drug possession.
Grooverider, whose real name is Raymond Bingham, was arrested at Dubai International Airport on November 23, 2007, when customs officials found him carrying 2.1gm of marijuana and pornographic DVDs in his bag. He was detained by the authorities and was referred to the Public Prosecution on November 26, 2007.
The drum icon had flown into Dubai from Heathrow to perform at a popular club in Dubai.
At yesterday’s hearing, Grooverider confessed to taking drugs regularly but said he was not aware that there was marijuana in his bag.
Traces of drugs were found in his urine during the tests done by the Forensic Department.
The court has fixed the next hearing to February 5, 2008.
The 40-year-old DJ, who co-hosts the weekly BBC drum-and-bass programme, faces up to four years in jail if found guilty.
Earlier, Simon Goldsmith, Second Secretary, Political and Media Affairs at the British Embassy, Dubai, told Khaleej Times: "We are offering consular assistance to Grooverider."

Drum & bass don Grooverider has finally appeared in a court in Dubai after spending two months in jail for allegedly attempting to enter the country with drugs and porn.
The DJ admitted to having 2.16 grams of marijuana in a pocket in his jeans, but claimed he had forgotten it was there.
He also revealed that he was a regular user of the drug following a urine test.
Grooverider faces a possible four year jail sentence if convicted.
Surprisingly, there was no mention of porn during the court appearance, which suggests that that charge has been dropped.
Grooverider was represented by Mohammad Al-Reda, the same lawyer that defended urban singer Dallas Austin when he was caught with cocaine in Dubai.
Dallas Austin managed to avoid jail after paying a hefty fine, so Grooverider may be able to escape incarceration.
The case has now been adjourned until February 5th

And guess who's prosecuted ? the young foreign fella for "Homosexual Behaviors"... And that really happened... weird country...
That said, i send a little hope to GR cause in jail you shall feel really alone and i guess that these folks doesn't have the same "compiler" as we do, they just do not understand the same things...
Stricly said, i'll avoid that kind of countries...
