Nice list, I have quite a few of these, but where's the Monza compilation?

Yeah its definitely a pretty good selection...I really enjoyed Loco Dice's 'Timewarp' mixes and the Play Group's 'Kings of Electro' mixes and a bit sad they didn't make it on but this is defiitely a fine list...I'm sure when Surgeon's 'This is for you shits' is finally available for the public that'll be amazing as well...

I don't agree with some of the choices, but I couldn't agree more with this part: "In short, mixed compilations are not just a simple collection of random and discrete pieces of music put together in an attempt to make a few bucks out of music fans: they are a well-founded, unique, and proper way music can – and should – be experienced by."

10. Kompakt - Total 8
09. Modeselektor - Boogy Bytes Vol. 3
08. Steve Bug - Fabric 37
07. Steve Bug - Fuse Presents...
06. Ellen Allien - Fabric 35
05. Shackleton and Appleblim - Soundboy Punishments
04. Booka Shade - DJ Kicks!
03. Ewan Pearson - Fabric 35
02. Marcus Intalex - Fabriclive 35
01. Dixon - Body Language Vol. 4

Not totally sure about that list order wise, but those are probably my top 10 in some sort of order. [Villalobos isn't on there 'cause I considered his more of an album and he's #3 on that list].

Good list RA; there are definitely some mixes that have slipped by me and I'll probably pick them up soon. And I agree with Stéphane about mix CDs; it's thought about before hand and done to be listened to in the car or home. There's a special aspect to the mix CD that can't be replaced by mp3 rips from live sets. I don't think that the mix CD will die since there are always mixes coming out that prove why it's such an important format.

It's great the Fabric series continues to put out such quality releases on a regular basis. 2007 was certainly a good year for the Fabric series, and with M.A.N.D.Y.'s release coming out in January, it looks like 2008 is starting off on the right foot. I am a bit surprised by Villalobos' mix being #1 since it was such a love-it or hate-it album.

Couldn't agree more with the top 3 winners. But IMO Sequential Vol.2 should've made the cut at least ahead of Lee Burridge's Balance. But obviously the progressive tag cost it the entry to the list Plotting

man, fabric 37 belongs in the album list. an album with brand new tracks from the same person? yeah, that's the definition of compilation..

How on earth Steve Bug's fabric cd is not in this list is beyond me.

:S

What a joke.

London’s world-renowned fabric nightclub is a juicy peach? A crisp apple? No,an onion. It has many layers and a soundsystem of such clarity that it’s been known to bring people to tears.......

Well they've only got 10 places to fill, so inevitably there will be some awesome comps out there who won't make it. But you know, maybe if you don't get reviewed on RA, even if you're good you won't even make it to the list. That seems plausible, but in the end it's RA's pole...

I'm also surprised at the fact Villaobos managed to secure top spot given so many people feel so strongly either way on the release, but overal i think the final list is a good reflection of albums that really stood out for us at Resident Advisor HQ and spent a serious amount of time on the Resident Advisor playlist.

Yeah many great albums that did not get reviewed were not even considered, it's a shame but the Resident Advisor pole is probably the best poll out there so I can't bring myself to fill a formal complaint. Good n Bad

Yeah - I don't like the Villalobos disc. It's not a patch on Pearson. Think Agoria is not top 5 either.

great poll!
love the agoria and the ricardo ones.
the most ambitious and different mixes i heard this year.
we need that kind of men who are not respecting too much the dj mix format, who are not mixing only dj tools or 4/4 friendly tracks, cd2 of agoria is incredible.

Love the agoria album. Would of liked to have seen the Dj T Vs Lazarus comp up there. Villalobos mix would be so much better in a club than on a stereo so i disagree with it getting the top spot.

I'm a little surprised at the lack of love here for Digweed's Transitions 3, ultra-modern, tight as hell mix. A lot of great mixes this year too, but I think that's my #1
Lee Burridge's Balance is really freakin' great though, so I'm glad to see it here.
I tried to like Villalobos this year... just didn't happen.

Well, I am very surprised that "Fabric 36 - Ricardo Villalobos" is on top of the poll's ranking. I definitely do not agree with this result. This artwork is quite impressive, but a number-one-compilation? I know, that there's a "less-is-more" / "minimize-to-maximize" - hype, but: doesn't it need a little bit more for a stand out compilation!?!

My most precious compilations for this year are representing the deeper side of electronic / house music:

- Body Language Vol. 4 by DJ Dixon
- the Coast 2 Coast series, (whether it is Quentin Harris, Kerri Chandler, Ron Trent, Âme, Karizma or Miguel Migs)
- Soul Heaven presented by Kenny Dope & Karizma
- Southport Weekender Vol. 6 by Kerri Chandler

and pointing at a more "techy" side of electronic music

- Balance 12 by Lee Burridge
- Fabric 37 by Steve Bug
- At The Controly by Agoria
- Back Up Vol. 1 by SeboK

Steve Bug's Fabric was my favourite of the series this year. Didn't really get into Ricardo's. Dixon's Body Language, Radio Slave's Rekids mix, Ewan's Fabric, Loco Dice's Time Warp, Sebo's Back Up and Agoria's ATC have all seen some decent playtime at my desk/home/car/ipod.

am i the only one who doesn't like agoria's atc? the 2nd disc really take a while to get going. and one more time i'll ask this: how could you consider fabric 37 as a compilation? clearly it's a full length?

There were a few other interesting mix/compilation this year, but this top10 list is just fine, Go Ricardo! :p

Body Language Vol 4 [Get Physical] has got to be in the top three. Get physical are constantly knocking out great tracks and well to be honest im still listening to Booka Shades Essential Mix!
