| RA News Bpitch Control's mailboy-done-good dishes up deep minimal with a slice of pop on his second longplayer Mango.

| #4 / Thu, 27 Dec 07 20:16 Yeah very nice album. 'Mango' and 'Chemin Des Figon' (the one that sounds like The Cure) are my favorites tracks.

 | RA Review It feels like the debate around new production software and mp3 distribution is just going to run and run, and to an extent we’re all pretty sick of it now. I’m certainly never checking one of those “VINYL WILL NEVER DIE SUXX0RS” forum threads again. These changes to the way music is made and sold,..

| #8 / Thu, 07 Feb 08 15:29 Hands down the best artist album to come out on Bpitch Control yet. Proper. Melodic, haunting, and groovy, baby.

| #10 / Fri, 08 Feb 08 19:51 I'm with Jacob on this one. Throughout his career Funke seems to be a hit or miss artist pretty consistently. Either its the best thing you've heard all year or dull as dishwater. Like his Boogybites mix. Most of the tracks on there were really good, but they were mostly a year or more old (and some stale), the pacing was slow at best, and the mixing was subpar. For me that assessment also rings true for B Pitch and Kompakt as labels. Often amazing, but just as regularly middling to corny releases.
Anyway, good review and great point about the surge in artist albums with the advent of internet downloads. It's both a blessing and curse in that there's more to choose from and more that's interesting to listen to, but also lots more crap to sift through. Sometimes I wonder if dance music is really a genre suited to album releases. Maybe 5 percent of the albums that come out are justifiable as "true" albums with cohesion between tracks/ songs and an whole that is more than the sum of its parts. The other 95% are just singles thrown together into an album release, and probably would do better critically and in clubs standing alone or with a couple of b-sides instead of getting buried in a bunch of semi-home listening filler. You could still release the singles on a CD for those who don't want to lug around a thousand-pound vinyl collection everytime they move, but it should be called and marketed as a compilation not an album.

| #13 / Mon, 03 Mar 08 12:08 the title track is cool. too much guitars overall. mood swings too much and gives an incomplete feel. lotre (mehr fleisch) is just another ket-house rubbish track.

| London’s world-renowned fabric nightclub is a juicy peach? A crisp apple? No,an onion. It has many layers and a soundsystem of such clarity that it’s been known to bring people to tears.......
