Posts / 204 RA Since / Aug 2007 Location / Chicago | #8 / Wed, 30 Jan 08 00:50 (Edited: 30 Jan 08 02:32) I totally agree with them when it comes to the dance music and sex connection, for some reason I thought I was the only one that thought that... (I'm not a perv!) Unfortunately, I get really sad when people refer to some of the sounds that came out of Chicago as their major influence. There was a great period of innovation and artistry here (Chicago) and then suddenly it disappeared. There's not much going on here (Chicago) to be very proud of or get very excited about, especially when compared to a city like Berlin. The biggest shame is that there is a lot of talent that goes by unnoticed or never gets the chance to grow and develop. Most clubs or promoters are more willing to rehash the same stuff over and over rather than give a chance to something new. It's all about $$$$$$ and staying firm with your "crew," anyone outside of it be dammed. It's easier to be left out than let in. Those that do "make it" will skip town for greener pastures, the truth being that there is not much support for their art here. But I digress... Thanks to Prosumer & Murat Tepeli for reviving a dying language. And please make a stop over to the city that gave birth to House and Acid. Channel some classic Chicago house back a city that has forgotten its mother tongue. Make me believe that this drought is simply the low point of a cycle that will eventually turn up. Though all things point to this city being dead.
